Poetry is the greatest aspiration for freedom. It is useful for spiritual upliftment. The essence of poetic thought is to explore the inner life and the outer world to illustrate our secret aspirations. Poetry has its own finality, and it wants to be the expression of life, the vision of a world and is justified by the need for man to be moved, to question himself and his legitimate experiences. The mystification hides the quest for the absolute and the quest for high spirituality. The fascination with life in itself, this strictly invisible world but living in the absolute intimacy of a thinking being, mysterious, exciting and dynamic, often impenetrable, borrows the words of language to express itself. It is constant and easy to see that the observation of external phenomena brings an existential dimension to poetic expression. The poetry expresses a desperate quest for God actually present in the collective imagination. She wants to be both day and night, fervor and anguish. It is an emotional longing for the absolute, for truth, justice and knowledge of all that obsesses and fascinates us.
Power, the object of all violent passions, is from the beginning of the world, the alpha and omega of all manipulations. Every time a man tries to gain his freedom, dreaming of a fate other than his own, the incredible forces of chaos set in motion to prevent him from escaping. Along the way, he experiences vain distractions and fleeting pleasures. Self-fulfillment is an uphill battle between deprivation and cruelty. Corruption imposes itself as a trap, a fatality. Blackmail and terrors invite themselves into a once peaceful existence. But the greatest manipulator is always one step ahead of his opponents. One supreme ambition: To win!
What happens to innocent but naive young girls who cross paths with skillful and bad faith seducers? They believe in the power of love without seeking to see the cruel world in which lives and passions merge. From then on, the imagination feeds on fantasies. Delirium, misery, anguish and drama mingle with everyday works with all their strength and all their ferocity. Loss of self-esteem, lack of confidence and depression take hold of fragile people. Are men above suspicion always more reliable and honest than others? Are appearances more deceptive in love than in life? Young girls from good families are often abused by the manipulators. Do they all come out with their heads held high? One truth: the narcissistic pervert always takes himself for God. He wants control of people sensitive to his charms. What happens to the victims of predation? Is seduction always a form of manipulation? A young woman who loses her illusions is a stray shadow between day and night.
This is one of the best-loved stories by Africa's most celebrated storyteller, Kama Sywor Kamanda, lavishly illustrated by the Japanese artist Izumi Ishikawa
