Why do so many South Africans prefer taking the law into their own hands to relying on the police? Why are those who do so often cheered or sympathized with? Of the unprecedented 27,000 recorded murders in South Africa in 2022, at least 1,894 - or 7 percent - were attributed to mob justice and vigilantism, more than double the number from five years before. In the first nine months of 2023, a further 1,472 mob justice deaths had already been registered. Mob justice is nothing new, but in recent years it has taken on an undeniably desperate, furious edge. From the breathtakingly violent Zandspruit massacre in May 2021, to the killings during the July unrest two months later, to the march of Operation Dudula across the nation in 2022, vigilantism - and the condoning of it - has never before captured the zeitgeist of South Africa so sharply. What has changed in the past few years, and what does it augur for the future? Following three recent cases of mob justice, from the hellish metropolitan townships of Gauteng to the far-flung bushveld of northern Limpopo, and drawing on extensive research and interviews, Why We Kill explores the roots, realities and consequences of South Africa's current crisis of vigilantism.

This is the printed version of my e-book with the same title for those who prefer printed books, which I do. The primary goal for the twenty-four articles contained in this book was to discuss the most important Bible passages that enable us see that the Lord Jesus will return, and the rapture will take place, right in the middle of the seven-year period that is sometimes called Daniel's 70th week (based on Daniel 9:24-27).There is a strong emphasis in this book on passages from the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation is God's last word in the Bible on the details of the end of this age, and it is packed with those details. It contains very much information that was not included in the prophetic passages that had been given before that super-important revelation was given to the apostle John, and through him to us, about AD 95.This book (and the e-book) borrows from, and serves as a good introduction for, my paperback book, The Mid-Week Rapture: A Verse-by-Verse Study of Key Prophetic Passages. Now that this printed version of the e-book is available, it (or the e-book) should be read first. It is easier to read for one thing - it was taken from the texts behind my radio broadcasts on this topic - however, The Mid-Week Rapture contains a large amount of information not contained in this book. For example, it contains verse-by-verse studies of Psalms 2 and 110; key parts of Daniel chapters 2 and 11 and all of Daniel chapters 7, 8, 9, and 12; Zechariah chapters 9-14; and an eight page discussion that goes with the fold-out Chronological Chart that is included in the back of that book; a smaller copy of that chart is included at the end of this book.

This e-book, which deals to a large extent with the interpretation of passages of the Bible (especially the New Testament) that deal with the super-important topic of righteousness, holiness, and victory over sin is packed with good news, very good news! The New Testament clearly, and consistently, teaches that God calls, and enables, us to walk with the victory over sin, by grace through faith. No true Christian wants to sin! God hates sin, and He paid an infinite price in the Sacrifice of His Son to set us free from spiritual death and bondage to sin. We will never walk in the righteousness and holiness of God with the victory over sin BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH until we are convinced in our hearts that God has called us to such a walk and provides the grace for us to do what He has called us to do. The New Testament makes it quite clear that the victory over sin is far from being automatic, or always easy. We have powerful enemies against us: the world, the flesh (the old man who wants to continue to sin), and the devil and his hosts, but the saving grace of God in Christ is far more powerful for those who appropriate His grace by faith (a faith that is based on God and His Word). The saving grace of God in Christ includes all the work of the Holy Spirit, the infinite Spirit of God, who dwells in all true Christians. We must make living in the righteousness and holiness with the victory over sin a top priority. WE MUST AIM AT THAT TARGET! WE CERTAINLY WON'T HIT THE TARGET IF WE ARE NOT AIMING AT IT! We don't want to repeat the error of the people of Israel at Kadesh (Numbers chapters 13, 14), where they believed in their hearts (and spoke and acted accordingly) that they could not do what God had called them to do. Of course God did not expect them to defeat the Canaanites by their strength; He did, however, expect them to trust Him and walk by faith. God knows our hearts! Also, it is good to know that He has promised to forgive us IF we should sin, when we repent. This printed copy of the e-book (and the e-book) was taken, with some modifications, from the written texts behind my twenty-eight half-hour radio broadcasts that deal with this topic. This book borrows extensively from, and serves as a good introduction for, my paperback book, "Holiness and Victory Over Sin," which is available on amazon.com.
