""The Religion of the Old Testament: Its Place Among the Religions of the Nearer East"" is a comprehensive exploration of the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Israelites, written by renowned Swiss theologian and biblical scholar, Karl Marti. The book delves into the historical and cultural context of the Old Testament, examining its relationship to the religions of neighboring civilizations such as Babylon, Assyria, and Egypt. Marti analyzes the development of Israelite religion from its earliest roots to its final form, tracing the evolution of its beliefs and rituals over time. He also explores the influence of other religious traditions on the Old Testament, including the impact of monotheism and the concept of a covenant between God and his people. Throughout the book, Marti provides detailed insights into the religious practices of the Israelites, including their worship of Yahweh, their use of sacrifice and ritual, and their views on death and the afterlife. This seminal work is an essential resource for anyone interested in the history of religion and the development of the Old Testament. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
