In this debut collection of poems, domestic joys and anxieties are thoughtfully interwoven with direct responses to experiences in the modern world, not least the pandemic of 2020. Consistently offering the perspectives of a wife, mother and incomer to Scotland, they engage with environmental and social concerns while holding fast to the "Solace found in a brimming teacup" or "A cluster of stars blazing the blackest night". By turns, challenging and reassuring, these are the expressions of an emerging talent, strengthening in us the awareness that "tears/wash away in the shower" and that - in the words of the title poem - "Hope is coming".
