War rages in the lands of Light, and the Darkness seems to be winning. Cities fall as the mad player Lily leads her armies against them, and hordes of Shadowborn descend on the Lightborn, seeking their destruction and enslavement. The Dark Pantheon itself has taken up arms against Aranos and his party, and he has only days to finish Redeeming the Arcane Doors before his Quest fails - which means the end of Geltheriel and the defeat of the Light. To overcome the Darkness, Aranos must delve deeper than he ever has into his arcane powers, but even his Primal magic may not be enough when the Darkbringer herself, Queen of the Dark Pantheon, stands against him. Only by transcending his mortal limits and understanding the deepest truths of Singularity can he hope to face the horrors opposing him. To save everyone, he may have to lose everything and everyone he loves... What price will he pay to become the Sorcerer Eternal?
War has come to the Lands of Light, and the defenders of the Light look to Aranos to fight it. An army of urukkai marches on Eredain, the spider-people move against the dwarven Skollhelds, and a horde of Shadowborn descend on the Human Kingdoms. The elven capital of Cyva Alari has fallen, and the fiendish bodakkai rage freely in the forests under the thrall of the twisted, insane Traveler Lily. The Lightborn are outnumbered and unprepared for war, their armies scattered and their lands broken and isolated. Aranos has to change that to have any chance at victory, and the key to that victory is restoring the Arcane Doors. The tendrils of Darkness run deep through the Lands of Light in the aftermath of the Feast, though, turning those who should be allies into enemies. The dark gods move openly against him, and creatures of legendary power stalk him through the Ways of Shadow. For the Light to stand any chance at victory, Aranos must quell ancient suspicions, unite the Lightborn, and Redeem that which the Darkness Corrupted centuries ago: the Hearts of the Lands. He must travel into the Darkness and restore it to the Light - or fall to its shadow and doom the Lightborn to slavery and death.
The dragon Herald has been unleashed on the world, intent on obliterating the entirety of humanity, and only Troias has the power and ability to face the terrible beast and survive. To have any chance at defeating the monster, the human race has to band together against it, an unlikely prospect at best when leaders of the nations refuse to accept the threat facing them. And Herald isn't the only threat the new March of Northern America faces. An enemy led by a shadowy ruler no one can find hovers at their southern border; powerful Awakened Omegas stand against humanity's continued expansion; Luc and the remnants of the Undugu linger at the borders of the March, their intentions unknown. Troias and Annalise face the deadliest foes they've yet seen in the Shift, but even if they overcome these enemies, one more threat lurks beyond: the Three, keepers of the Source and Herald's ultimate masters, have decided that Troias has to die in the name of the Shift - and they'll stop at nothing, not even the destruction of entire planets, to make that happen. To face these beings, Troias must become more than he's ever been and risk everything he's gained in the Shift for the good of all mankind...
Home. No other word fills Annalise with the same amount of joy...and the same amount of terror. Parted from Troias for reasons he can't know and she can't face, Annalise returns to her hometown determined to liberate it and make it a safe haven. She doesn't know what happened to her family or her friends, and she's terrified to find out. When she discovers the entire city is living under a pall of fear, though, Annalise must put her own terrors aside and fight for what is hers. Nothing is as it seems, and the only person she can truly count on is herself. Fear rules her home, but Annalise is determined that it won't rule her any more...even if she has to die to make that happen.
Stephen Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author, and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. His scientific works included a collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation. Hawking was the first to set out a theory of cosmology explained by a union of the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. He was a vigorous supporter of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics. Hawking was a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS), a lifetime member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. In 2002, Hawking was ranked number 25 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons. He was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge between 1979 and 2009 and achieved commercial success with works of popular science in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general. His book A Brief History of Time appeared on the British Sunday Times best-seller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks. Hawking had a rare early-onset slow-progressing form of motor neurone disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis "ALS" or Lou Gehrig's disease) that gradually paralysed him over the decades. Even after the loss of his speech, he was still able to communicate through a speech-generating device, initially through use of a hand-held switch, and eventually by using a single cheek muscle.
