Sometimes it takes a lot out of me when it is all said and done but I keep going on...guess I have too much to say or maybe I am just having too much fun playing with words to stop...I hope you all enjoy them and just be sure there are more to come...at some point will get back to fiction as well but as for now this is what I've got...
Come in she said I'll give you shelter from the storm...it's funny how some words can mean so much...these have started to mean the world to me...an epiphany of sorts...having come off a bad relationship..well not bad as a whole but in the end as bad as it could get...and while I have always loved the song I hadn't really listened to the words...until now...Shelter from the Storm...what a concept...something I could only dream of hearing from someone...having been a ship bounced around by the storms of life for so long to have someone take me in and protect me from all the troubles that life seemed to throw at me was truly what I wanted...been through everything else and nothing mattered more than to feel protected...but this was something I never expected...
I have written a lot...I mean a lot...I only say that because at this point in time I just passed the 3000 poem mark...and all of those were written from 2015 to now...8 books published from the end of 2015 to the end of 2016...that being said I thought I would pick a few out that I thought were better than the rest... I was funny while I read through all the ones from that time...it was where it all started ...hard to imagine now that is was all started as just a little flirtation...well....maybe more than a little...in any case has been such a trip
Well, here we go again...as much as this is for my buttercup and pussycat...think it has been the rest of you that have brought a lot of this out of me...looking for a few new paths to run down...it's the twists and turns that makes life so much fun...only matters at how you look at it...only one thing is truly for sure.... Allons Toujors Ensemble
This work was started during the final editing of For the Love of Elle and Somethings Never Fade. It took a month and a half to get to this point. The title comes directly from my friend, Terry. It is be best described as something said by someone who has had a few drinks too many. And the story told through these is not all that much different. So come on and take a ride...then you will know...What HaHaHappened was
Well, here is another one. This collection was written while I was still working on The Flirt. I had not stopped writing poetry after I finished Like Playing with Lost Words. They are for the most part written with a certain someone in mind. For those who know me, the who is very well known. Never kept that a secret. There are a few others that were the inspiration of some of these. You know who you are and we'll just let it stay that way.
When you're desperate...do desperate things...otherwise nothing will ever change ... This is the story of my life, Louis J. Valente, D.M.D. B.S., M.D., a first-generation Italian American. I was born on September 2, 1934 in Milford, Massachusetts, 30 miles south west of Boston. I am the youngest of five sons born to immigrant parents. In order to truly understand me, one must read the entire book before judging the measure of who I am. I grew up in a very modest environment, under difficult conditions. My story may not be very different from that of millions of immigrants or first-generation descendants. They had hopes and dreams that life in America would be easier, opportunities more abundant and prosperity just around the corner. I am the product of that culture.
Not just another collection of poetry. Just Waiting marked a change in my typical work with a move to a slightly more creative adventure...Come on let's have some fun...Thomas Katt is waiting
Well, here we go again. Now, this book is a little different than the past...Poetry may seem the same but there is a distinct difference...might have to look a little harder than usual to see it but the "You" might have changed in more than one...yes at times, someone other than the usual suspects touch me in a special way....that can be seen in this book maybe more than others...if you see me being a little more innocent at times then you will know that the someone new is around....
Time is but a collection of experiences that we all share. Reality is only that which we chose about to care. And still I wonder. I wonder what it is all for. But then again, I smile and have another drink...and just think...is this it or is there something more.......
Three years ago, I published my first collection of poetry...it was probably just so I could say I could...or maybe it was just like it all started...a little flirtation...in either case...there it was...it kind of just kept going after that....and now here we are...3681 poems later...well give or take as the girls have god knows how many more that I used to leave on my receipts at Sunset....well better let you get on to reading rather than just listening to me
Colorful locals and multifaceted ex-pats... Gutsy, shy, resourceful, sexy women interact with brave, indecisive, intelligent yet foolish men... Three, very different stories with surprising twists depict men and women in all the situations only life and fate can throw at us.
Life is a funny thing... You never know where it may lead you...So far mine has led me across the pond and back...only to find myself waiting each day to see the sunset...albeit a different form of sunset...some day I am sure I will be on the road again but for now that's where you'll find me..always waiting for a smile from a pussycat peanut and buttercup...if you read the book ...you'd understand why
Soon you will see what you can get....but be sure I'm not done yet
This one came along pretty quickly...guess that's how it goes when the inspiration is there...things happen...things change...that's just the meaning of the game...albeit not always a fun one to play...it does make for more than one adventure...
From the very beginning of this little trip that I have been on I have felt that what there was from the beginning has stayed with me. And it has. I can honestly say that with all those I have fallen in love with over the years...you know who you are...I still am in love. Not an easy thing to say as I haven't seen any of them for some time but they are still in my heart. And from time to time throughout this book they return.
Yet another installment in the life of L.J. Valente, told in rhyme. On occasion, Thomas Katt takes over and gives his own perspective on Life.
Once I was described as too sweet and an attempt was made to compare me to a peanut butter cup...I thought for a moment...knowing far too well as what I should say but wanted to say it in maybe a rather clearer way...I said like a peanut butter cup am I...well let's see...am sweet but also salty...and so this book began
Thomas Gates was not there, really, for romance. No, he was to meet an old friend. He sat at a corner table in the café, his back to the wall, something he always loved as he could see the whole of what was going on before him. Thomas lived nearby and nearly every Saturday was found at Spinnakers. Alone, maybe, but not lonely, a bad marriage made sure that he was more than careful when it came to women. He loved them, a bit too much, but these days he preferred to stay alone. It was just easier for him.
getting involved with a woman can always be a chancy thing...but when the said woman describes herself as a "Beautiful Mess" ...thing's let's say ...can get interesting
A lot can be said about this one...probably the most fun I have had since I started...just so you all know it has all been only a little innocent fun...I might like to get into trouble but not in trouble...of course that might have a few meanings as well...but I'll just let you all think about that a bit...hehe...But where the story goes from here...might not be so very clear
We all know what it is to have good intentions as it doesn't always end up the same as you thought it would. After World War Two and especially after the Russians got the bomb, a group of American scientists and military personnel became very scared that the end of the world was almost at their doorstep. At any moment, the world could be destroyed and even worse, the American way of life wiped off the face of the globe. This was unacceptable. It all starts there but where does it go...
What an interesting year this was...2017 was the start of something new...Buttercup and pussycat were still the central characters but peanut had a great influence...as well as my sunshine also known as a beautiful mess....I never knew what was coming next...and guess I still don't...but it is all so much fun
As always this book comes from my nights at Sunset Pizza in Okatie, SC...My buttercup and pussycat still fuel the fires...hehe...of course there is always a butterfly and a peanut to cause a smile or two...I won't go into the long list of other characters that make their presence known..tried to do that before but found that even as good as I am I left some out...well...that's about it for now...hope you enjoy the ride....
Now I may be a romantic but I am also a sentimentalist...maybe more the latter than the former...And when I read through these I see other meanings...they are a reflection of all who have touched me over the past couple of years. My return may not have been the happiest of events but those around me have made my life feel so truly special...and all of this...is for all of you
2018 was an interesting year. It started off simple enough. I was still at my playful ways with all my attention being paid to the girls at Sunset. Katherine Crowley and I put our heads together and did an interesting collaboration with words and pictures. All seemed to be moving along at a steady pace. Then just before the eclipse, I had a beautiful mess come into my life. That stirred things up a bit for a while. Not a bad thing. But as all things that burn bright, they sometimes slowly move out of sight. And that's how the year ended with me trying to pick up some pieces and get back at it again.Right now it is March of 2019 and I am once again changing direction. Lucky for me, I still have the usual suspects around me and a few additions and also with luck no subtractionsBut since you have to pay If you want to playDon't have to ask you know what I'll sayYou can pay be back some other day
Poetry for the Masses is a mixture of scenes, themes and tales in rhyme that were all inspired from nights at Sunset Pizza in Okatie, SC. Filled with innuendo, fantasies, flirtations and observations that may be familiar to many. Inside there are also inside jokes and symbolism that may take time to understand but the true sense of humor will make itself known after only a little reading. All in all an enjoyable adventure. An interesting note is aside from the first few from Somethings Never Fade, they were all written and published consecutively.
