This book is about a factual animated expedition, of a man who has engaged in suing America's major banks. No one assumed he would get as far as he has. There even exists a durable opportunity that he may be successful. The banks filed a litany of documents in the courts, in quest that this man be investigated and indicted. A Federal Judge name, Judge Terry J. Hatter, granted the Defendant Banks their desire. The writer is a black man, who has nearly brought down some of the largest white institutions, only, to have a black federal judge give the banks the right to sentence him to death (prolonged imprisonment). While the FBI, as well as other investigative agencies have been trying to indict him for four years, the Universe has given him protection, together with over 250,000 Christian Mexican Americans, thousands of White and Black Christian Americans, Oriental American Buddhists, American Hindus, American Atheist, American Agnostics, and even those Americans with obscure beliefs (all of who are members to and of his journey). Together, all their support of him, has helped him elude the death grip of the mighty power of the banks and the Feds who would protect them. While his faith is not that of any of the above, he genuinely believes, that the Universe bonds all natures of people, for the sovereign cause, of making The Devil's (THE BANKS) Playground, a Paragon of United-Financial-Endurance.Should he be successful, it would expose the banks in-excess of 6 Trillion Dollars in debt. Together, the banks being sued have less than 1.5 trillion dollars in Capital and Surplus. Simply put, the banks would be out of business and the Federal Government would have to take them over. The U.S. Government does not have the money available for such a cause. But that's only a diminutive fragment of a portion of the problem. Should the Government (FDIC) must take over the banks, people and corporations would only be limited to $100,000.00 to $250,000.00 of their funds on deposit with such respective institutions. That means people and corporations with millions and billions of funds on deposit with such institutions, would automatically go out of business. There would exist no American fortune 1000 companies that would be capable of even making payroll. America as a country, would be thrown into economic chaos. The 1929 crash (THE GREAT DEPRESSION), would have existed, as a financial "Cinderella" of economics, compared to what would exists, should he be triumphant. Remember, everybody's pension is in some way connected to the big banks, including the judges, federal agents and just about every corporation in America. He realizes that he is a National Security Threat to America. In America's mentality, he is the true and most real terrorist, because he poses the economic threat, that no outside entity could. This is a must read.
Life Savers y Not Too Big To Fall serán victoriosos.
The complete collection of stories by a perceptive, deeply unsentimental, and bracing writer, now all in one volume that reveals the development of his craft over time. "Larry Brown wrote the way the best singers sing: with honesty, grit, and the kind of raw emotion that stabs you right in the heart. He was a singular American treasure."--Tim McGrawcGraw
NOW WITH A FOREWORD BY RON RASH AND AN APPRECIATION BY DWIGHT GARNER“One of the finest books I know about blue-collar work in America, its rewards and frustrations . . . If you are among the tens of millions who have never read Brown, this is a perfect introduction.” —Dwight Garner, The New York Times On January 6, 1990, after seventeen years on the job, Larry Brown quit the Oxford, Mississippi, fire department to try writing full-time. In On Fire, he looks back on his life as a firefighter. His unflinching accounts of daily trauma—from the blistering heat of burning trailer homes to the crunch of broken glass at crash scenes—catapult readers into the hard reality that drove this award-winning novelist. As a firefighter and fireman-turned-author, as husband and hunter, and as father and son, Brown offers insights into the choices men face pursuing their life’s work. And, in the forthright style we expect from Larry Brown, his narrative builds to the explanation of how one man who regularly confronted death began to burn with the desire to write about life.
Harry Blake had everything going his way. He retired from a successful business career. He wrote two novels and won the most prestigious literary award in the country, not to mention a prize of 125,000 in gold coins. Hollywood had decided to make a mini-series based on his books. He had a beautiful wife and a big, loving family. They lived in a lovely home on a lake in rural South Carolina. It seemed like a perfect life. But one night changed everything. Harrys life turned upside down. Can he start over at this point in his life? Can he expect a new life after 70? This is a story about one man who refused to surrender.
Ten stories confront the dark side of human life as characters are challenged by crisis and pathology, including how a couple faces the disfigurement of cancer in the bedroom, the rationalizations of a wife beater, or the mind of a teenage killer.
"When Love Gets Broken" The Book Is about Repairing "Broken Love" in all our relationships..."When Love Gets Broken" is something that happens to all of us at one time or another. Learning what caused the broken relationships is what "When Love Gets Broken" is all about, and repairing those relationships is very possible when we understand what caused the problem in the first place.
In an ambitious narrative structure reminiscent of Robert Altman's classic film Nashville, Larry Brown weaves together the stories of a sprawling cast of eccentric and lovable characters, each embarked on a quest for meaning, fulfillment, and love -- with poignant and uproarious results.Set in Memphis and North Mississippi, The Rabbit Factory follows the colliding lives of, among others, Arthur, an older, socially ill-at-ease man of considerable wealth married to the much younger Helen, whose desperate need for satisfaction sweeps her into the arms of other men; Eric, who has run away from home thinking his father doesn't want him and becomes Arthur's unlikely surrogate son; and Anjalee, a big-hearted prostitute with her own set of troubles who crashes into the lives of the others like a one-woman hurricane.Teeming with pitch-perfect creations that include quirky gangsters, colorful locals, seemingly straitlaced professors, and fast-and-loose police officers, Brown's spellbinding and often hilarious story is about the botched choices and missed chances that separate people -- and the tenuous threads of love and coincidence that connect them. With all the subtlety and surprise of life itself, the story turns on a dime from comical to violent to moving. Masterful, profound, and full of spirit, The Rabbit Factory is literary entertainment of the highest order.
