The first ever critical biography of Helen Chadwick, who died tragically young but is now revered as a pioneering feminist artist. Helen Chadwick (1953-1996) embraced the sensuous aspects of the natural world, breaking taboos of the 'traditional' or 'beautiful'. Her sculpture, performance and photography is radical, provocative and often steeped in humour, and employs unusual, sometimes grotesque materials - bodily fluids, meat, flowers, chocolate and compost among them. She quickly became a leading figure amongst Britain's post-war avant-garde, becoming one of the first women to be nominated for the Turner Prize. A dedicated teacher, she mentored the majority of the Young British Artists and is now known as the 'mother of the YBAs'. She was also involved in the artistic community at Beck Road, Hackney, whose residents included Maureen Paley, Richard Deacon and Genesis P-Orridge. Although she was widely exhibited during her lifetime, attention to Chadwick's work declined following her unexpected death in 1996, and it is only relatively recently that the significance of her work has been acknowledged afresh. Coinciding with a major touring retrospective, this publication spans the breadth of her practice, from her renowned MA degree show In the Kitchen (1977) through to her seminal Piss Flowers (1991-2). Authentic communication is often mentioned as a goal of drama pedagogy; the teacher wants to create a context for speech that simulates actual communication rather than the isolated or contrived sentences and dialogue often found in textbooks.This paper aims to find out what effect the use of drama can have on learners' speaking confidence, spontaneity, and fluency. Different literature on the subject is consulted and several approaches are considered, such as a speed dating activity with no preparation to simulate an authentic conversation; a role-play scripted by the pupils; and a pair conversation, with ¿character cards¿ to give pupils an idea in English what they could say, and questions on the slide.These methods are implemented over three lessons with a class of 20 year ten pupils. Different tools to collect data were used for analysis, such as a questionnaire and observation notes from the class teacher, to answer the question, in how far the use of drama can be profitable in modern language teaching.The paper includes the used working material for French lessons and an evaluation.

Hinzu kommt, dass der Frauenanteil bei MINT-Berufen bei 14% nicht-Akademiker und 17% Akademiker liegt. Sowohl der Staat, als auch die Wirtschaft rufen Aktionen und Einrichtungen ins Leben, die versuchen, dem entgegenzuwirken. In Passau wurde beispielsweise die Wissenswerkstatt Passau gegründet, in welcher Kinder und Jugendliche durch Versuche und Projekte Phänomene aus Naturwissenschaften und Technik erleben können und auch an Vorführungen, Vorträgen und Betriebsbesichtigungen teilnehmen können. Das Kursangebot richtet sich auch an Schulklassen. Sachunterrichtlich-technische Lernprozesse können somit in der Wissenswerkstatt Passau initiiert und unterstützt werden. Daher widme ich mich in meiner Seminararbeit dem Thema, ob die Wissenswerkstatt Passau dazu beitragen kann, das Interesse von Mädchen und Jungen für Technik zu fördern. Im ersten Teil meiner Arbeit werde ich untersuchen, was Interesse ist, welche Rolle es für das Lernen der Kinder spielt und inwiefern hierbei das Geschlecht eine Rolle spielt. Im Zweiten Teil meiner Arbeit werde ich anhand empirischer Untersuchungen, die ich in der Wissenswerkstatt Passau durchgeführt habe untersuchen, ob die Wissenswerkstatt Passau zur Förderung des Interesses beiträgt.

Dieser Rückgang der Zahlen der Schülerinnen und Schüler erfordert neue Überlegungen zur Gestaltung des Schulwesens. Aber neben demographischen Ursachen für die Entwicklung neuer Tendenzen im Schulbereich gibt es auch pädagogisch initiierte Änderungsmaßnahmen, welche die Schulentwicklung im Bereich der Jahrgangsmischung maßgeblich beeinflussen. Die folgende Seminararbeit widmet sich der Frage, welche neuen Schuleingangsformen initiiert wurden unter besonderer Betrachtung des Aspektes der Beweggründe für die Einführung der neuen Schuleingangsstufe. Zuerst werden die die grundlegenden Änderungen in der Schuleingangsdiagnostik thematisiert. In einen nächsten Schritt werden die spezifischen Merkmale der neuen Schuleingangsstufe vorgestellt, um sie fortlaufend mit denen der alten Schuleingangsstufe zu vergleichen, Gemeinsamkeiten herauszuarbeiten und Unterschiede festzustellen. Anhand der Gegenüberstellung werden nun noch speziell die Beweggründe und Legitimationsaspekte für die Einführung der neuen Schuleingangsstufe hinsichtlich der Jahrgangsmischung angeführt.
Essay from the year 2017 in the subject Romance Languages - General, University of Birmingham, course: PGDipEd Secondary (QTS) French, language: English, abstract: In this discussion, I evaluate my practice with regards to assessment and monitoring progress. I first consider the relevant literature and explore assessment of learning and assessment for learning, as well as suggestions for monitoring pupil progress. Assessment for learning (AfL) is defined by Driscoll, Macaro and Swarbrick as: ¿formative assessment and the practical implementation of this by teachers in classrooms¿. Assessment of learning (AoL), often referred to as summative assessment, ¿identifies the standard of attainment achieved at a particular moment in time¿. I then discuss my approach in my research design, followed by a critical evaluation of my progress so far, supported by my documentary evidence.As a key part of the teaching and learning process, assessment is a frequent focus in educational research, both generally and specifically in modern languages (ML). The Office for Standards in Education state that best practice includes ¿regular assessment of all four language skills¿, while the Department for Education (DfE) make no specific mention of assessment in the National Curriculum. This shows that there are multiple viewpoints on the importance of assessment and monitoring.
Case Study from the year 2017 in the subject Didactics - Common Didactics, Educational Objectives, Methods, grade: 68, University of Birmingham, course: PGDipEd Secondary (QTS) French, language: English, abstract: All teachers face the challenge of making sure every pupil has the same access to education by adapting their teaching to suit different needs, known as inclusion. Kyriacou defines inclusive teaching as organising teaching and learning to "cater for pupils with a broad range of abilities and needs". Gedge refers specifically to pupils with a special educational need or disability (SEND) when considering inclusion and, although the focus of this study is SEND, it is important to note that inclusion refers to all pupils. As Holmes said: "no learner is the same as any other". Inclusion is not the same as differentiation, which refers to the methods employed by a teacher to make the learning accessible to all (Kyriacou, 2014), although this term is still significant in relation to making teaching inclusive. This study aimed to find out how inclusion works in practice. I focused on Modern Language (ML) teaching and carried out a case study of two Year nine pupils with Asperger¿s Syndrome, a condition within the wider range of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in an 11-19 mixed comprehensive. I looked at how changes to teaching and the classroom environment affected their learning over six one-hour lessons. I will consider views from a range of literature on the subject and use several methods of data collection to analyse the results and conclude whether the teaching had an impact. I will then explore these findings in relation to my future practice.
Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Didaktik für das Fach Deutsch - Deutsch als Zweitsprache, DaZ, Note: 1,0, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Deutsch als Zweitsprache ist aufgrund von gesellschaftlichen Veränderungsprozessen immer mehr in den Vordergrund der Diskussion über Schulentwicklung und Unterrichtsentwicklung im Fach Deutsch geraten. Der neue Lehrplan PLUS sieht Deutsch als Zweitsprache sogar als eigenes Fach neben dem Deutschunterricht an. Die bildungspolitische Relevanz dieses Thema lässt sich anhand verschiedener Statistiken und Forschungen ableiten. 60,9 Prozent der drei- bis sechsjährigen Kinder mit Migrationshintergrund sprächen in der Familie vorrangig nicht Deutsch.1 Dies bedeutet, dass diese Kinder diese wichtige Bildungsressource nicht in der Primärsozialisationsinstanz Familie erlernen und die Schule Fördermöglichkeiten zur Verfügung stellen muss. Es stellt sich nun die Frage, wie solche Fördermöglichkeiten konkret aussehen sollen. Die Seminararbeit beschäftigt sich mit diesem Thema. Die konkrete Forschungsfrage lautet nämlich: Gibt es Materialien aus der Montessori-Pädagogik, welche sich für den DaZ-Unterricht in der Grundschule eignen? Zu Beginn der Arbeit wird in einem Theorieteil darauf eingegangen, was unter der Montessori-Pädagogik zu verstehen ist und es wird das Unterrichtsfach DaZ beschrieben. Im Anschluss daran folgt der Praxisteil der Arbeit. Zunächst werden verschiedene Montessori-Materialien vorgestellt, welche sich für den DaZ-Unterricht in der Grundschule eignen; diese werden im Anschluss in den Lehrplan eingeordnet, didaktisch reflektiert und begründet. Zusammenfassend werden die Chancen und Grenzen der Idee erörtert und ein Fazit gezogen.

Daher werden im Hauptteil zunächst die Grundzüge der kritisch-konstruktiven Didaktik Klafkis dargestellt. Im Fokus liegen hier die Didaktik, der Begriff der Allgemeinbildung und der Begriff der Werte. Im Anschluss daran wird ein Unterrichtsentwurf am Themenkomplex Mensch und Umwelt für die vierte Klasse skizziert und unterrichtspraktisch erprobt.
