In this episode of Super Cybersecurity Grandma, Jastin and his family learn about the conveniences of the world of the "Internet of Things" (IoT). Jastin's family create a Smart Home with many interconnected appliances, security devices, and wearable technology. They even venture into buying an autonomous car. Super Cee Gee helps them enjoy the gadgets but, as always, helps them stay aware of the cybersecurity concerns about sharing information and privacy while using these devices.
In this episode, Jastin and Super Cee Gee face the challenges of Cyber Bullying. This term is often used to describe many undesirable activities related to the internet, social media, e-mail and texting. The term is derived from traditional bullying in school, where children were threatened and mistreated in various ways. With so much use of the internet now, the bullying activities take on a different form but the negative influences and actions are similar and more pervasive. As such, it has become very difficult to monitor and curtail. Everyone must be aware of this phenomenon so that cyber bully victims can be protected and cyber bullies can be taught to respect others. In this episode, Super Cee Gee offers several great suggestions for children who face this problem.
CYBER CAREER DAY AT SCHOOL -in this special episode, Jastin and Super Cee Gee shared their excitement about the many facets of cybersecurity (from prior episodes) with so many people that Jastin's school offered them the opportunity to host Cyber Career Day at School. Many of Jastin's schoolmates invited their parents, relatives and friends to visit the school to talk about their cyber careers. It was surprising that some of the traditional jobs like bank tellers and police officers have changed because of the importance of cybersecurity in our digital world. Even though the class was overwhelmed with the fancy job titles and the special work of the presenters, Cyber Career Day was still a success. Why? Because now the students know that there are high paying jobs at many companies and in the U.S. Government that they can aspire to rather than just being sports figures or entertainers!
In this episode of Super Cybersecurity Grandma, she and Jastin focus on the issues of privacy and identity theft, which can happen to anyone whether they use the Internet or NOT. Jastin's family learns lessons about protecting their personal information and trying to avoid or recover from identity theft.
