Por el contrario, Laurencio, que cortejaba a Nise, piensa que, casando con Finea, podría remediar su pobreza y al irla, en efecto, enamorando, dicho sentimiento va paulatinamente desterrando la necedad de Finea y convirtiéndola en discreta.

"Comedias", de Lope de Vega. Lope de Vega fue uno de los más importantes poetas y dramaturgos del Siglo de Oro español (1562-1635)
Fuenteovejuna es una obra teatral del Siglo de Oro español del dramaturgo Lope de Vega. Está considerada, con Peribáñez y el Comendador de Ocaña y El mejor alcalde, el rey, uno de los tres dramas "municipales" que constituyen lo mejor de su vasta obra dramática. Fue compuesta en tres actos hacia 1613 y publicada enMadrid en 1618 dentro del volumen Dozena Parte de las Comedias de Lope de Vega. Tomada de un hecho histórico, la trama se desarrolla en el pueblo cordobés de Fuente Ovejuna en tiempos de losReyes Católicos (1474-1535). El drama se presenta con un protagonista colectivo (los habitantes del pueblo), como en la Numancia (1585) cervantina o en Los persas de Esquilo. Como ocurre con gran parte de los dramas de Shakespeare, el Fuenteovejuna de Lope ha llegado a conseguir categoría de símbolo, el del prototipo iconográfico - teatral de "la unión del pueblo contra la opresión y el atropello".
Es una de las obras más conocidas de Lope y una de las más apreciada en el extranjero, representada multitud de veces en los tiempos modernos. Escrita entre 1611 y 1618. En Fuente Ovejuna, aldea cordobesa, reside el Comendador don Fernán Gómez de Guzmán, que, con un concepto tiránico del poder, abusa de sus vasallos, vejándoles de cien maneras, sin detenerse ante los mayores excesos. Persiguiendo lujuriosamente a solteras y casadas, tropieza con Laurencia, que le ofrece una enconada resistencia con la ayuda de su enamorado Frondoso, que la libra arriesgadamente de su seguidor. Cuando, con la ayuda de sus secuaces y tras diversos excesos con las lugareñas, consigue apresar en su palacio a Laurencia y Frondoso, después de golpear al propio alcalde, padre de Laurencia, el pueblo, excitado por los denuestos de la joven que les acusa de falta de hombría, se rebela contra el Comendador, asalta su palacio y le da muerte.
