Bragetti Woman continues the epic story of Kazi Boku. The Duke sent forces to defend Angus Town from a huge attacking force of Bragetti and they drive off the attackers but fail to save the settlement. The Duke has commanded Kazi to immediately leave the ruins of Angus Town and explore the northern wilderness in search of the Bragetti. Kazi finds a settlement of Bragetti living on the outskirts of a dangerous forest known as Darkwood. They appear strange, yet familiar, and she ... she is not at all what he expected. Kazi is unaware the Cosmic has pitted him against Tyrus, an immortal who wields religion like a weapon. The populace already seeks the favor of the Temple of Kaal, which has the ability to heal any illness, restore sight, and even replace lost limbs - for a price. What father would not grant a small favor or sympathetic judgment for the return of a limb or restoration of sight?Tyrus uses his crystals to create monsters and he also modified humans to create the Bragetti. He plans to use them as a military force that can be discarded when his goal of domination is achieved. Perhaps he left them too human.
When a religious leader is willing to secretly absorb the life from one victim to heal any paying client, or when his plans demand monstrous creations to be secretly loosed upon the populace in order to achieve his objectives of 'cleansing', he might, unknowingly, invoke the Laws of the Universe to take part in restoring the balance of existence.Kazi has barely survived the seemingly random attacks of mercenaries and crystal-enhanced animals that have destroyed his friends, village, and family. As he tries to recover from horrendous losses and attempts to lead a normal life, the Cosmic pushes events that pit him directly against Tyrus and the Temple of Kaal. Caught in the middle, between unknown enemies, and the Cosmic desire to balance the corruption of evolution, Kazi must fight to discover the nature of his foes and the demands of his destiny.
Tyrus considers a swineherd to be a ruler and The High Prefect doesn't want to listen to the squeals and grunts of his subjects but would rather dictate to the Dukes from behind the religious façade of the Temple of Kaal. The populace already seeks the favor of the Temple because of their ability to heal any illness, repair sight, and even restore limbs, for a price. Tyrus' crystals also allow him to combine the attributes of any creature and he is creating a new race of beings; the Bragetti, to lead an assault upon humanity. When the Dukes cease their petty squabbles and join together against a common enemy - Tyrus will be there to save them, and yoke them in bondage, under a common religion.Kazi Boku knows about the crystals and suspects foul play but can prove nothing against the Temple's ambitions. He is building a new settlement, erecting windmills, cabins, and a new inn while laying out the beginnings of a small farming community to be named Angus Town. He fears rogue packs of mercenaries and wild beasts and gathers a small force of retired soldiers for protection. It seems they won't be needed as the construction is going well and everyone is cozy for the winter and looking forward to planting in the spring. The village is officially sanctioned by the Duke and under his protection.Tyrus, however, wants a Bragetti army to march south and make an assault that will test their destructive power. They should reach Angus Town by winter's end.
