From the reviews: "...I think the volume is a great success ... The Mathematical Intelligencer, 1993 "... It is comparable in scope with the great Courant-Hilbert Methods of Mathematical Physics, but it is much shorter, more up to date of course, and contains more elaborate analytical machinery...." The Mathematical Gazette, 1993
This book presents a survey of the theory of general linear partial differential equations and, in particular, of equations with constant coefficients. It is written for researchers and graduate students in mathematics and theoretical physics.
I had mixed feelings when I thought how I should prepare the book for the second edition. As of July 3, 2000, MathSciNet (the database of the American Mathematical Society) in a few seconds found 3695 sources, among them 363 books, during its search for "pseudodifferential operator".
