A metaphysical narrative with an intrigued, mysterious and lonely man who has a conversation raising many questions about his existence. He is convinced he has been alienated from his origin. He realises he doesn't know where he is and how he ended up in this society. The answers about how to gain back his own identity are hidden from him in the competitive society where he finds himself. His queries bring him the conclusion that he is in a quest to save himself as long he doesn't forget his true identity, but he can not do it alone and he knows it; he has to confront the reality that has been rejecting him. In his pursuit to not forget his true identity he risks to end up forever on his own, fragmented and invisible in his community, but he is determined to continuously defy society and not give up memories hidden in himself until he finds his true home. MEMORIES OF A BROKEN GOD is a philosophical and psychological fiction investigating what it means to be alive. Readers who like the mystery in THE THIRD POLICEMAN and the conflict in THE TRUMAN SHOW will enjoy the short but rich narrative in this story.

A compilation of still life photographs representing life and the human mind. The photographs are from different periods from Márcio Faustino (Santos) life, divided in the book in 5 parts. Flowers represent feelings, bottles represent the human body, food represents wealth and material wishes while masks represent what we show to others, to ourselves and what we hide. These photos are inspired by the metaphysics view of human behavior and relation to each other. All the images were originally made with film negatives and hand crafted by the photographer himself. Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide. Perhaps we see ourselves as in a bag of skin, as if our body were distinct from our mind and not part of it, in order to hide; As a defensive behaviour and a way of concealing intentions and thoughts. Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides. So we are anxious to communicate and express ourselves to others, because we can only know and picture ourselves in society in relation to others. People hide and withdraw into its shell until the sudden outburst of one who has long been silent.
In 2015 Márcio Faustino Santos begun an experiment with self portraits photographed with a pinhole camera; a camera adapted by himself. Many tests and experiments were made with lights, film negatives and film developers in order to archive the most attractive result. The photographs are long exposures ranging from 1 to 8 minutes. The long exposures self portraits required the photographer (who is sitting for the photos) to stay still until the end of the photo exposure time. This waiting time belongs to contemplation - a concept Márcio Faustino Santos has for his slow cameras to oppose the rush, efficiency and immediate tendency of our time, which forbid the ["unproductive"] contemplating time. The experiments results you can see in this book. These photos are about contemplation, illumination and death.
