Margaret couldn't wait for her last year as a public school teacher. She had taught for forty years. Margaret began teaching at the age of 20 in a rural area in Florida. Ace, has cerebral palsy, and had received nothing but harassment when trying to obtain accommodations as a highly-trained classroom teacher. One thing Margaret learned from being raised in the deep South is that when a door closes find an open window. In other words, never give up. When it comes to Ace, he learned where to find that open window and to persevere despite the odds of being handicapped in a dog-eat-dog world.

She is an author of 5 books, a Windy City Review team book reviewer, served on the Aspen University Student Advisory Committee, elected Board of Directors member for a national non-profit organization, received an Impact on Children Award (2018), for designing a Youth Empowerment, Reading & Writing Publishing Program (YERWPP), that helps the students read and write more effectively. She served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Fayetteville Observer in North Carolina. In her free time, she tutors English as a Second Language, writes, and is the Director of the YERWPP Program, utilizing a variety of educational, evidence-based practices helping students become independent readers and writers. She holds an Ed.D., Doctorate in Education Leadership and Learning/emphasis in Instructional Design.
