O livro centra-se na importância da interação entre inovação, competitividade e comércio externo. Pela primeira vez, no que se refere à República da Moldávia, faz uma análise multidimensional que permite estimar a influência dos fluxos de exportação e importação sobre os elementos do desenvolvimento inovador e estabelecer as direcções e as melhores formas de o fazer, utilizando as ferramentas de simulação WEB das instituições internacionais. A investigação mostra que as exportações de alta tecnologia estão concentradas nos produtos medicinais e farmacêuticos, bem como na maquinaria eléctrica e suas partes. O livro apresenta uma análise SWOT para o envolvimento da República da Moldávia em cadeias de valor globais de intensidade tecnológica (GVC). A investigação mostra que a participação a montante é o tipo predominante de envolvimento da República da Moldávia na atividade da rede. Os produtos da Moldávia têm uma penetração insuficiente nas cadeias de valor de rendimento e estão sobretudo presentes nas cadeias de baixo rendimento dos países europeus. O privilégio da posição geográfica perto da Europa, um dos principais pólos de produção em torno do qual se concentram as CVG, é pouco utilizado pela Moldávia.

Der Schwerpunkt des Buches liegt auf der Bedeutung der Wechselwirkung zwischen Innovation, Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und Außenhandel. Zum ersten Mal wird in Bezug auf die Republik Moldau eine multidimensionale Analyse durchgeführt, die es ermöglicht, den Einfluss der Export- und Importströme auf die Elemente der innovativen Entwicklung abzuschätzen und die Richtungen und besten Wege festzulegen, wie dies geschehen kann, indem die WEB-Simulationswerkzeuge internationaler Institutionen genutzt werden. Die Untersuchung zeigt, dass sich die Hightech-Exporte auf medizinische und pharmazeutische Produkte sowie auf elektrische Maschinen und deren Teile konzentrieren. Die SWOT-Analyse für das Engagement der Republik Moldau in technologieintensiven globalen Wertschöpfungsketten (GVC) wird in dem Buch vorgestellt. Die Untersuchung zeigt, dass sich die Republik Moldau vor allem durch Rückwärtsintegration in die Netzwerkaktivitäten einbringt. Waren aus der Republik Moldau sind nur unzureichend in den Einkommenswertschöpfungsketten vertreten und finden sich hauptsächlich in den Niedrigeinkommenswertschöpfungsketten der europäischen Länder. Das Privileg der geografischen Lage in der Nähe von Europa, einem der wichtigsten Produktionszentren, auf das sich die GVC konzentrieren, wird von Moldawien kaum genutzt.

This book is embraces the series of acute problems of the Republic of Moldova (RM) provoked by Covid-19 pandemic, including critical aspects of health security, affecting the trade regime of country, as well as integration of RM in the regional value chains. The economic crisis also revealed the need to adjust the country's economic policy. In the first chapter we analyze the state¿s preparedness for the COVID-19 crisis, as well as argue the need for selective changes following the detection of critical aspects of health security. In the final chapter of the book is identified and assessed the economic vulnerabilities of the RM at the macro level, as well some policy proposals for sustainable economic development are formulated. The book is also identifies acute problems in neighboring countries that can be used by decision makers in these countries in the process of adjusting state policies and drafting policy documents. Conclusions and proposals are given at the end of each chapter. In difficult times, decisions should be made on the basis of clear, relevant, argued and impartial data-driven information. This information is analyzed and summarized in this book.

The book is focused on the importance of interaction between innovation, competitiveness and foreign trade. For the first time with reference to the Republic of Moldova a multidimensional analysis that allow to estimate the influence of export and import flows on the elements of innovational development and to establish directions and best ways in which it can be done, using the WEB simulation tools of International institutions. The research shows that high-tech exports are concentrated on the medicinal and pharmaceutical products as well as the electrical machinery and its parts.  SWOT Analysis for engagement of Republic of Moldova in technology intensity global value chains (GVC) is presented in the book. The research shows that backward participation is predominant type of engagement of Republic of Moldova in network activity. Goods from Moldova are insufficiently penetrated in income value chains and mostly presented in low income ones of European countries. Privilege of geographical position near the Europe the one of the main manufacturing hubs around of which is concentrated GVC is weakly used by Moldova.
