In "in light layers" Marjorie Orr is trying to shed light between the layers of dark in the existence of man using nature and the psychology mixing with the natural and unknown, "the universe just stares".
In 'A Dancer's Ink' Marjorie Orr explores emotions, politics and words to find what is true. She "....pleads with the paper to stay still...as the lazy sun reclines". She talks about "...the bipolar land fractured..." and in the poem 'some have twisted' she writes "they can no longer/see in their funny/house of mirrors/ of themselves". There are poems about 'The Cheddar Man' and Space X and even poems about poems, childhood and Queen Victoria. In the poem, 'the sun is palpable' she ends with "....the bequeath of bouquets/ of broken promises". comments: Thought Provoking and pensive from the inside out. Really wonderful reading, but not poems to be taken lightly. I love the way she plays on words making little rhymes or same beginning or ending syllable, or even the same word twice with different meanings. It takes the reader on a ride through the mind of an extremely gifted person.
Marjorie Orr's new poetry book, In the Middle, is a collection of poems about politics, entwined with philosophy, and current events. She unravels her truths with her poems using nature and her perspective as a frontispiece. Her poems travel with her to Kill Devil Hill, Prince Edward Island and the Bay of Fundy.
In BOULDERS IN THE SAND Marjorie Orr exploresthe hardness of some when the deranged are inhigh places. In "when they throw stones" she asks"...what can one do/in the disarray of chaos...". She"....sinks into the paper..." in the poem, "the paperlistens". in "phantom friends" she explores all thosefriends who never respond to her even though sheknows they are there. In the poem "washed of sins"she writes, "some never get the dirt off...." and endsone poem with "....on a boulder no one/will be ableto move" and is hopeful "...in the budding bloom ofthe truth" tossing all the boulders aside.
In the poetry book ABOVE THE PSEUDO POET'S BOOKSHELF by Marjorie Orr, the book begins with life in the rip currents of current events as she fumbles "thru the night dew". She tries to understand the fuzzy math as freedom hangs in the balance. She asks, have "our enemies become us"? She talks about "the final march to Selma" in the vortex of each day in modern day's turmoil. Her voice is visceral as she tries to find calm in the looming storms.
