Anne Douglas, a well-known and well-liked Cook County Assistant State's Attorney, is murdered in Lincoln Park. And then one of her coworkers is also murdered. The case they'd been trying was a high-profile dope-related murder committed by a Sinaloa Cartel-connected criminal. In response to these murders, a task force of Chicago Police Department Violent Crimes detectives, DEA agents, and an unlikely group of recruited, retired coppers are assembled to solve these crimes that may be random and coincidental or may be tied to the Sinaloa Cartel's Chicago operation. Several of those investigating these heinous crimes had a personal connection to the deceased, which makes finding the killer personal. This group of investigators works to not only identify the killers but also to determine why they killed these two innocent people, and in the process, discover how dangerous and connected these murderers are.
Mike Conway and Ted Quinn are dedicated Chicago Police Homicide Detectives who work to solve a series of murders that at first appear to be unrelated. Using creative and tried and true investigative techniques they also rely on proven crime scene investigators, crime lab results, and informant information as they work the case.
