It has been seven years since we published our first book 'Views from the back of the class' and so we thought that maybe it was time to share some further views and experiences from the students and instructors that hopefully will again inspire new and experienced Tai Chi players alike. The diversity of the articles within this second book, and the people who wrote them, is vast; many of the chapters have been submitted by students and teachers who contributed to the first book and are still with us. We hope it will make for another interesting read. There is a plethora of instructional form books, and even more deeply interesting theory and practice of Tai Chi literature; they have a recognized place in a practitioners reading. However sometimes reading people's personal experiences and feelings can trigger you to delve deeper into a certain area of Tai Chi; a trigger to exploring your own thoughts and experiences. With this in mind we included an Epilogue that contains a selection of writings that although not obviously linked to Tai Chi we thought you may enjoy, and were submitted to us for our monthly club newsletter by students and instructors. We are hoping, we have, as before, structured the chapters to ensure this tai chi book is a 'dip in' easy read, and often light-hearted view of tai chi life.
My aim with this book is to share my experiences of this wondrous field we call hypnosis, supported by discussions of standard theories and models. As our understanding of brain function unfolds so too will more concepts of the form and practice of hypnotism. We may even be calling it by a new name in the not-too-distant future; 'mesmerism' wasn't the first name used, and 'hypnosis' may not be the last. 'Mindfulness' is one term in vogue at the moment, as is 'guided visualization'. I titled the book the Accidental Hypnotist as my aim is to help spread the realisation that hypnosis is actually a naturally occurring phenomenon that each of us experience on a daily basis. It has been said that "You cannot not influence"; once you can accept that everything you say and do influences you and those around you it is only a small step to grasp that we each put ourselves and each other into a natural trance. When you plan a holiday, consider how a redecorated room will look, imagine excelling at a sport etc. it is your imagination that motivates you to succeed or fail; it is self-hypnosis by another name. It's your brain so it seems the study of how to get it to do what you want it to do is a useful pursuit.
This is a unique book, an anthology of Tai Chi Chuan. Produced by pupils and teachers following the Cheng Man-Ching way of Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, it paints a picture of the art seen not from a -how-to-do-it or the classics point of view, but from the experiences of those who are training: beginners, intermediate and advanced. It is enlived by excellent, right-on-the-button cartoons, guaranteed to raise a smile. The Description of a visit to England by a former pupil of Grand-Master Cheng, Master Tan Ching Ngee of Singapore, clarifies some important points about Grand-Master Cheng's approach which will be welcomed by all. The articles range far and wide, giving examples of stress reduction, martial application, humour, seriousness, beginning in the art and developing within it, and in so doing make Tai Chi Chuan more accessible to people thinking of taking it up, wondering where to turn for reassurance and so forth. It does so by showing how very ordinary (?) people approach and enjoy learning it. You can dip into the book at any chapter, as with an anthology, and share the experiences of students just like yourself....
Bride of Covid Chronicles is a daily trip through the wayward thought patterns of a 76 year old man. A word, phrase, idea, would strike me and I'd be off and running with whatever rose into my compost heap of a mind. Something like stacking bricks to lay a wall without a level. A few times the wall would end up plumb and straight, most times it would wander like a drunkard trying to find a dimly lit men's room in a low rent district bar.
The Cooking Manual: Demystifying the Cooking Process and over 80+ Great Recipes has everything you need to know about cooking indoors and outdoors. As an entrepreneur, I have traveled and eaten/dined all over the world, and I have been cooking and creating my own recipes for over forty years.I cover all the kitchen accessories--types of knives, mixers, processors, and many other useful gadgets--and how to use them, also outdoor grills, smokers, and pizza ovens. This book also contains wine tables and information on basic herbs and spices, how they are best used, and the different cuts of meats (from cow, pig, lamb, and poultry), including a section on cooking terms. I have also included pictures; I dislike cookbooks that don't show you what the food should look like. In my book, I have also included eighty-plus of my recipes that I created for friends and family from scratch, using fresh ingredients. In the recipes I basically create meals with drink pairings as well. So enjoy!

Draftee (A Buffoon in Vietnam) is the true tale of a young man's days in the U.S. Army from October 1968 to September, 1970. Draftee is a story filled with dark humor, deep irony, life and death in combat, the author's reflections on his role as a grunt in Vietnam and finally, his days at Schofield Barracks. This is not a tale writ large on world affairs, instead is the story of a man caught up in forces he could not control.
Joel Jackson, or JJ to his friends, thinks of himself as being something of a rebel. He's that kid in your class at school who always wears the black clothes, the heavy metal tees, lets his hair grow long, has piercings in places you don't even want to think about and whose face always seems to be etched with a scowl. You know the type? Of course he wasn't always like that. He was once a happy kid with a best friend, Dallas Pearce. At least that was until something happened between them. Now, years later, JJ's secrets are out and the two former friends are about to be thrown together once more. What will happen in the wilds beyond the lost ghost town of Salvation? Can they work together to survive the event that places them both in danger? And is their friendship, which was once so strong, truly also beyond salvation?
A young man grows up in the 1960s with the guidance of his unusual uncle. Together they explore the wilderness of northwest Manitoba by canoe, build a cabin in northeast Minnesota and come to know each other deeply through the young man's letters as an infantryman in the Mekong Delta.
With Sydney's annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras rapidly approaching, hot-shot rookie Detective Constable, Rick Cooper, has just been assigned to a high profile inner-city command. Not all is as it seems, however, with his appointment proving to have political undertones, while his superiors seem to know more about his past than even he cares to remember. What no one is quite prepared for, though, is for that past to catch up with him, or for the catastrophic events that will inevitably follow! Can Rick survive his first few days on the job? Can his fledgling relationship with the new man of his dreams weather the storm that is about to engulf them? And can he finally solve the mystery that has been haunting him for years?
In 1980 a young couple bought nine acres of land in northern Minnesota and built a cabin. A real cabin that is, with electricity, no plumbing, and the finest outhouse in Christendom. Over the years friends and relatives visited to share in the joy of mosquitoes and ticks. Eventually the cabin became the center for wilderness canoe fishing. A large dollop of humor and a seasoned hint of thought complete the stew of this memoir.

Come along in this compelling read to get some answers to these questions and others you may have about what you are really seeking in this life-and in the life to come! What people are saying about If You Die Today!"'Jesus is not as concerned with what we do, but with what we are.' This is a precious pearl of truth that Dr. Mark Peters holds up to the light in his new book, If You Die Today! Where Will You Be Tomorrow?Dr. Peters employs a format similar to his previous two books, wherein he bases each of the 11 chapters upon a singular element of the title, be it word or punctuation mark. These individual elements provide a springboard for diving deep into the different components of the title question. What especially struck me about the way Mark brought answers to the surface, was how he attached a beatitude to each one and allowed the teaching of Jesus to float it up to the top. Thus, each chapter builds upon the preceding chapter in much the same way that the beatitudes build upon each other. This really depicts the transformative progression that occurs when one is drawn to Christ by God's grace, dies to self, and is nourished by faith in Christ to produce spiritual fruit. This is the kind of fruit that is good today, will be good tomorrow, and lasts forever. Thanks again, Mark, for not only being a hearer of the word but a doer who encourages others by your candidness, transparency, and steadfast commitment to the Word of God and the love of Jesus Christ!" -Mr. Bob Leffingwell"Fantastic book! Best of the three that Mark has written! Drives home the point that we let our busy lives keep us from spending time with our Lord and Savior. The pivotal question we all must face is in the title: If You Die Today! Where Will You Be Tomorrow?" -Dr. Buddy McClung"The eternity of man is at stake, and the solution is the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation. How will we respond to a world that desperately needs to hear this message? Mark unashamedly proclaims the good news of the gospel and shares his life experiences of living this out. His stories are captivating, his exhortation for believers to deepen their faith is unfeigned, and his passion for sharing Christ is encouraging. The question of one's eternity is paramount and as I read this book it challenged me to think about how I should be sharing the gospel with the people who God has put in my life." -Mr. Jon Helander
Who's in charge of your family...ANYONE? WILL YOU BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE? Our society is rapidly changing, and many would say things are not changing for the better. As the family deteriorates, who can help us with the huge deficit of moral truthfulness that we all face in our world? If we don't make effective inroads against it there is little hope for the generations of those who follow us to have loving families of their own. What priorities are you focused on? Who and what are winning the battle for your heart, soul, & mind? The "dumbing-down" and elimination of the father as the Spiritual leader of the family is tragic. Many families are broken, splintered, and injured, strewn along the roadside of convenient and easy divorce. We are seeing the tremendously high price paid by all of us within this catastrophic debacle! In fact, some would say that even the "Christian" family is in "MELTDOWN!" mode... There is only one hope for the state of affairs in our modern, broken families, and that hope is under attack from the media, judiciary, and even our elected officials. Our nation has turned its back on the only Savior Who can truly save her! Join author Mark Peters as he looks at where our families seem to be headed in these difficult and tumultuous times. READ this book if you want to take a serious look at yourself...your family...and your walk of faith!
