What's the matter with kids today? It's a question that consternates every generation as they consider the generations coming behind them. We laugh about it, knowing that our parents said the same, and that we, too, had our problems when we were young. We understand that there is truth in that old proverb, "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun."Still, when we turn on the news, and even when we look around us, we see some alarming trends manifesting in the younger generations. "Do they not have any reverence for human life?" we find ourselves asking of some. Of others, "Why are they floundering around so, when they've been given so much opportunity?" And of still others, maybe, "Why do they demonstrate such entitlement?" or "Why do they seem so fragile?"I must confess that each of these questions has entered my mind at one time or another. But the most important may be related to the latter question. Why are so many of them, even among those who seem to have it all, so anxious and depressed? And why do so many choose to take their own lives? One of my own children lost a classmate to suicide during high school; and, sadly, during last spring and summer alone our community lost four teens to suicide. What is going on?Obviously these are complex questions, but this book (which, though written from the Christian perspective, is intended to be an encouragement and help to anyone who cares about kids) makes an effort to discover some answers and propose some solutions. It's no silver bullet, and even in this presentation there is a sense in which, like the proverb says, "there is nothing new under the sun." But hopefully the thought process represented here will be helpful to parents, teachers, and others who care about kids --and even and especially to any Selfies who are willing lay the phone aside and take up a book! After all, the Selfies of today are the superintendents of tomorrow.
Have you taken the Myers Briggs inventory and been identified as an ISFJ Defender? Or do you have an ISFJ spouse or children? Do you find yourself looking, blank-faced, at those four attributes and thinking to yourself, "Well, now, that's nice; I'm an ISFJ! But what does that really mean?" If so, then you'll enjoy this book, created by a fellow ISFJ Defender who has undertaken on your behalf a typically thorough ISFJ study and painstakingly recorded the collected information regarding the ISFJ type. ISFJ 101 is the complete ISFJ layman's guide to understanding the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the theory behind it, the typing method built into it, and the ISFJ personality type. The book, written by an ISFJ author, tells you all you need to know of MBTI in order to understand what is meant by the outcome of your MBTI inventory, and then goes on to address practical, real-life ISFJ-related experiences and applications. The author's decidedly respectable lifespan and personal experiences as an ISFJ give the book a practical -- and at times entertaining -- personal perspective which helps to bring the information home in a way that makes it relevant as well as instructive to ISFJ types and those who love them. About the Expert: Confirmed ISFJ (but with highly suspected clandestine T activity), Christian believer, and recently retired roadmom, Mary Blake is new to the field of writing with a degree in engineering, past career in computer programming and lifelong propensity for writing. She lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her remarkably patient husband, three dearly-loved grownish children who move in and out on a regular basis, an INFJ Advocate dog, and two cats, ENTJ Commander and neurotic. Mary draws great joy and strength from her faith, family, and friends; from learning; from the created world; from photography; and from writing for a wide variety of applications. HowExpert publishes quick 'how to' guides on all topics from A to Z by everyday experts.
This cookbook is sent to you in the hope that among its recipes you will find many new and tasty dishes. My own favorite recipes are contained herein, one hundred of them, and I can promise that you will find them all thoroughly practical. No matter how old a story cooking is to us, no matter how little zest we think we have for it, we need only to have a new recipe, a new ingredient or a new method in cookery held tantalizingly before us to discover that our interest hasn't waned after all. For the quest of the new and better in cookery never loses its allure.
Party Sweets by Mary Blake has been regarded as significant work throughout human history, and in order to ensure that this work is never lost, we have taken steps to ensure its preservation by republishing this book in a contemporary format for both current and future generations.
