Mary Louisa Molesworth (1839-1921) was an English writer of children's stories who wrote for children under the name of Mrs Molesworth. She is best known as a writer of books for the young, such as Tell Me a Story (1875), Carrots (1876), The Cuckoo Clock (1877), The Tapestry Room (1879), and A Christmas Child (1880). 'I see smoke rising-you can hardly see it now, the light is growing so dim, but I'm sure I did see it. There must be a little cottage there somewhere among the trees.' 'Oh, how nice!' exclaimed Maia. 'We must find it out. I wonder what sort of people live in it-gnomes or wood-spirits, perhaps? There couldn't be any real people in such a lonely place.' 'Gnomes and wood-spirits don't need cottages, and they don't make fires, ' replied Rollo.

""Rosy"" is a novel written by Mrs. Mary Louisa Molesworth. The story revolves around a young girl named Rosy who is the daughter of a poor artist. Rosy is a kind-hearted and imaginative girl who loves to spend her time exploring the countryside and dreaming about the world beyond her small village. Despite her poverty, Rosy is content with her simple life and finds joy in the little things. However, her life takes a turn when she is sent to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle in London. In the city, Rosy is exposed to a new world of luxury and privilege, but she struggles to adapt to her new surroundings and misses her old life. Along the way, Rosy learns valuable lessons about the importance of family, friendship, and staying true to oneself. The novel is a heartwarming tale of a young girl's journey of self-discovery and the challenges she faces along the way.""Perhaps so, ma'am. I wasn't thinking so much of her healthfulness. With the care that was taken of her, she couldn't but be a fine child. But it's her feelin's, ma'am, that seems to be so changed. All her spirits, her lovely high spirits, gone! Why, this evening, that Martha--or whatever they call her--a' upsetting thing I call her--spoke to her that short about having left the nursery door open because Master Fixie chose to fancy he was cold, that I wonder any young lady would take it. And Miss Rosy, bless her, up she got and shut it as meek as meek, and 'I'm very sorry, Martha--I forgot, ' she said. I couldn't believe my ears. I could have cried to see her so kept down like. And she's so quiet and so grave.""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
