This book considers environmental governance in Nigeria as it celebrates the centenary (1914-2014) of the amalgamation of southern and northern protectorates of Nigeria into one nation in 1914 by the British colonial administration. The book examines environmental governance issues in the context of national environmental governance (NEG) in Nigeria. It discusses environmental policies, regulations and legislations in Nigeria from the advent of British colonial rule up to Nigeriäs independence in 1960, and from post-independence to the formulation of the first National Policy on the Environment by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency. The book includes subsequent environmental policies in the thirty (30) key development sectors of the economy such as Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Health, Housing, Lands, Transport, Marine and Coastal Resources, Mining and Mineral Resources and Industry. It identifies the key challenges to attaining national environmental governance and proposes the Way Forward to achieving NEG and sustainable development in Nigeria.
