It is believed to belong to the genus Mallomy's, within the family Muridae, according to initial investigation, although this has yet to be published. The species was discovered during the filming of Lost Land of the Volcano, a BBC wildlife documentary, in the extinct volcanic crater of Mount Bosavi, over 1,000 meters (3,300 ft) above sea level. The 82 centimeters (32 in) long rat weighs around 1.5 kilograms (3.3 lb) and has a silver-brown coat of long, thick fur. My speech even shows it. I talk like my grandma did, and my mother, bless their dear hearts. We were, and I'm still one of those unfunny Hillbillies that everybody laughs about!

Coyote Springs was a thriving small town just a week's drive south of Dodge City, Kansas. It was on a well-used cattle trail that stretched all the way to Dodge from the wild Lone-Star State of Texas. The place was known as a wide-open town, which catered to trail drivers of any size herd. That was the very reason the town existed. It was not as wild as the famous Dodge City, but was where weary cowboys from Texas, or anywhere else, could let off some pent-up steam after months on a long, very dangerous. Indian infested trail. Large cattle herds would sometimes bed down near Coyote Springs for two nights. Credit could be obtained for any driver who wanted to have a wild night of fun.
