Time travel messes with your mind and your heart. That's what you'll discover in The Hampton Summit, the first book in The Castleton Series, an eight-book romantic/adventure saga. The series takes to the dawn of humanity, into the distant future, and ends up where it began - messing with your mind all the way. The Castleton Series is the story of young teens Mike Castleton and Allie Tymoshenko. They meet and become friends. As they grow older they fall in love, but are star-crossed. They were born seven generations apart. In The Hampton Summit Mike Castleton and his friends Nick and Patrick are recruited by time travelers to prevent a murder that was not supposed to happen. A trio of renegades from the future intends to kill a wheelchair-bound scientist before he can share a discovery that creates a peaceful future. The killers will rearrange the past and dominate the chaotic world they create. The boys travel forward in time to be trained at the Time Institute. There, Mike meets fellow cadet Allie Tymoshenko. Allie realizes that when grown, the boy from the past will become Captain Mike of the band the Sirens and will set off a revolution in music known as Chamber Rock. Allie can never tell him about his future and the mystery surrounding Captain Mike; at the peak of his career he disappears.
Things happen fast once the Sirens take on a manager named Jack Lincoln. The man puts the band on a meteoric ride to the top. They soon become wealthy celebrities, hounded by paparazzi. However, work at the Time Institute never stops, even for 21st century VIPs. Dressed as Hippies, the two crews visit rural New Hampshire in 1969. Allie's crew has to record an all-girl band named Madras, while Mike's team is investigating a possible alien abduction. The time travelers discover Madras and the abduction are linked by creatures, convinced earth is about to destroy itself in a nuclear war.
Seven generations from now an island rises out of the ocean and archaeologists are stunned to find a ruined city. Chaz Newcomb and his team arrive to dig but are forced to abandon their work when all but he fall into a mysterious trace. This leaves only one way to identify the city: go back in time. Once again, the Auckland's and the CT 9225's crews combine their efforts. Their quest takes them to the dawn of humanity, where they find the city, inhabited by an unknown species of humans with amazing technology. The citizens are in a trance, all but Carolus Nukium and the city's three leaders, a set of triplets that call themselves the Triumvirate. When the city sinks below the sea the Triumvirate escapes. The crews pursue them with no idea of the price they are about to pay.
Mike Dunbar is world renown as a Windsor chairmaker, teacher, and author. You will discover in this volume that Mike doesn't just make chairs, he thinks about them. He thinks about chairs constantly, and connects them to all sorts of subjects. Mike also records his thoughts. For years he has emailed a monthly essay about chairs to a subscriber list of fellow enthusiasts. If you are not on that list, or if you joined in recent years, you have missed a lot. No longer. In this volume Mike presents his essays from 2007 to 2011. Accept his invitation. Pull up a chair and have a seat. Open these pages and explore Mike Dunbar's world - the world of chairs, and all that they mean to him.
This is the second book in the Castleton Series. Allie, Jen, and their engineer visit Roman Carthage on a research mission. They are captured by bandits who sell them into slavery, scattering the three time travelers around the Roman Empire. The Time Institute realizes it has lost a crew, but has no idea where or when. They need a rescue team that is courageous and innovative. The CT 9225's team of young Fixers fit the bill. Mike Castleton, Patrick Weaver, and Nick Pope, now in the 7th grade at Atlantic Academy, accept the mission. They must retrace the lost crew's steps, discover what happened, and bring their fellow time travelers home. By the time they arrive will their friends be alive or dead? Can they be saved without changing time and setting off Chaos? Do their friends want to be saved? You'll discover once again that time travel messes with your mind and with your heart.
In the distant future, technology has disappeared and humans have been reduced to a handful. This remnant lives a simple, peaceful existence, until an unidentified invader arrives -- yellow in color, shaped like cross between a knight in armor and a football player -- killing all the people they find. The villagers call them Dandelions, because they are yellow and just popped up. Charlie Newcomb escapes and travels back seven generations to seek the daring and innovative time crew described in his ancestor's diary. Freshly returned from studying the Battle of Agincourt for a UNH professor, Mike Castleton, Patrick Weaver, and Nick Pope had witnessed the power of the English long bow. With this simple weapon a handful of English archers had destroyed an army of French knights. The CT9225's crew answers Charlie's desperate plea for help. With their friends Allie Tymoshenko, Jen Canfield, and Lenore Smith they return with Charlie to lead the humans in battle with the Dandelion army, and perhaps witness the end of time.
With the Sirens at the top of the charts, Mike has turned into a self-centered celebrity. His friends worry for him and Allie grieves the wonderful man she had loved for seven years. In an effort to save Mike from himself his friends propose a mission: find out why the earth was so sparsely populated when the Dandelions invaded New Durham. Once again, the teams discover that time travel messes with your mind. Back in the present, a series of tragedies only serve to make Mike more obnoxious, forcing Allie into a fateful decision. She has to leave him.
Life as a rock star is alluring. People cater to a celebrity; every whim is fulfilled and every indiscretion is overlooked. It is too much for a high school senior from Hampton, NH to resist. Allie is troubled by Mike's changing personality, but her friends reassure her it is temporary. A research paper for his Mike's Anthropology class prompts the crews to travel back in time to find out why a Stone Age city was suddenly abandoned. In the city they meet a charismatic visionary named the Navigator who is realizing his ambitious dreams. The mission would be a lot safer if the Navigator's people were not head hunters.
