This study aims at exploring the element of political strain/Strife in the poems of Seamus Heaney and Faiz Ahmed Faiz in the light of post-colonial studies swiveling round Spivak¿s Subaltern theory. Both poets become a forceful voice of subalterns belonging to lower classes and the social groups who are at the margins of society. These universally acknowledged poets belong to two different continents, yet they have startling unity of political themes in their poetry.

Scholarly articles attempt to discuss and outline the merits of other explanations and viewpoints which are in contrast to their views. They do not seek to justify their own opinions and conclusions as the only credible truths, but rather acknowledge the contrasting opinions as credible too and then clarify why they draw different conclusions. Literature is a perpetual written work, which expresses and communicates thoughts, feelings and attitudes towards life and the world. The novels 'The Pakistani Bride' and 'An American Brat' by Sidhwa demonstrate the psychological development, anxieties, anguish, fear, jealousy, bereavement, hostility and maturity level of her characters in the presence of these core issues of their lives.The research exposes that both Feroza and Ziatoon¿s defense mechanisms are connected for self-amendment. Ziatoon has faced many problems in life but she has never given up and carried on her journey against the society. Both of them give reasonable causes to ponder about as they face conflicts and frustration from the society.

In Pakistani society men are dominant and patriarchal system emphasizes the domineering roles of men in all spheres of life. Sara Suleri has written two memoirs that critique and question male dominance. In her both creative memoirs, Suleri quietly welds the history, politics and culture of Pakistan. Her father is a man of words and makes himself clear in firm and clear tone. Sara Suleri sees patriarchal social system as the fundamental cause of women¿s oppression and she fights for the elimination of male dominance particularly in the cultural sphere, and ¿placing women and girls¿ experiences at the center of any exploration and analysis through her both memoirs. The central claim of this study is that male patriarchal dominance affects south Asian women in particular ways. As male gaze concept is one of outshoot of feministic perspective, there are many ways to look at patriarchy, male dominance and male gaze.

The issue of violence has been a prominent theme in literature. The world we live in today is replete with conflicts that consequently generate aggression and violence. Thus violence finds its way in almost all genres of literature. This research intends to study the acts of violence in Arundhati Roy's debut novel The God of Small Things with special reference to the female characters. As a social and political activist, Roy has her own perception of violence that is reflected through her female characters especially through her chief protagonist Ammu, a divorced woman, who violates the social norms by having a secret love affair with an untouchable labourer.
