The written word of mankind is a revelatory tool, offering insight into a person, place, or thing. When it's used to express ideas about a person, the reader gains insight into that person's character and, in some sense, comes to know that person. The Holy Bible is God's written Word and a revelatory tool, offering insight into God's attributes and thus revealing God's character. Through studying His Word, a person can learn about Him and come to a greater understanding of His true identity.
If you only used the English definition of mystery, you may think of it as mysterious and ominous. But, when you define it Biblically, you realize that the mysteries of God are meant to be understood, taught, and applied. That is why Paul said, "Behold, I will explain a mystery to you." (1 Corinthians 15:51, CEV). Therefore, you can and must understand God's mysteries. They are solved, and God wants everyone to comprehend them. And, for those God has called to preach, He wants them to be faithful stewards, sharing them with His Church! Thank you for joining me on this Biblical journey to experience the unveiling of God's truth. As you read this book, I pray that I will prove myself a faithful steward of God's mysteries.
These six Miktam Psalms are to be engraved and remembered for all time. Throughout these six chapters, Myron Powell takes us on a journey to discover the main thing they all have in common: the hope of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whatever situation you're facing that seems dead, let these Miktam Psalms encourage you in the power of the resurrection! The following verses are where David prophesies the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Psalm 16:10Psalm 56:13Psalm 57:3Psalm 58:10-11Psalm 59:1-4,16-17Psalm 60:1-5
Praise, worship, thankfulness, and blessing Almighty God fill the lyrics of the final sixteen Psalms. But pain, prison, persecution, doubt, fear, and feeling overwhelmed are also woven into the psalmists' words. Through it all, God protects, provides, and gives peace to His own. He is the Creator and able to do the impossible. God and His kingdom are everlasting, and His mercy endures forever. Therefore, if you ever need a reminder of why God is worthy of the highest praise, read Psalms 135-150. My title for this book stems from Psalm 142:5-7, which is the exact middle of the final sixteen Psalms. These three verses illustrate the transformational shift that takes the psalmist from prison to praising God wholeheartedly. But, remember, as you read through these Psalms, the psalmists did not know how their experience would end. We have the luxury of knowing their history, but they did not. So, feel their faith as they cling to God's Word. Experience their hope despite the anxiety of the unknown. Apply their lessons to your situation, and give God the superlative praise He alone is worthy to receive!
In 2010 I wrote Look Again, a book detailing God's truth about the Second Coming. In 2021, I wrote a condensed version of that book with updated ideas. The book you now read is the work of over twenty years of study, prayer, and research.God compelled me to change the title from Look Again to Of Those Days in this revision. This new title comes from Jesus' words, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days" (Matthew 24:29). I pray that God opens your understanding to His purpose and truth "of those days" preceding His return. If you are still unsure when Jesus Christ is returning to redeem His Church, I ask you to keep reading until you finish this book. I also ask that you prayerfully study every Scripture I've referred to, asking God to dispel misunderstanding so that he can reveal His truth (2 Corinthians 3:16).
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote the epistle to the Colossians, refuting all false claims about God. Paul reaffirms to the original audience and the global Church that Christ is preeminent. Paul sharply rebuked every influence that attempted to infiltrate the Church. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Paul would not allow anything to compromise the truth. The Church at Colossae dealt with Gnosticism, paganism, mysticism, Greek philosophies, and Old Testament practices of the Law fulfilled by Christ. Yet, none of these could withstand the truth of God's Word. In our day, the Church fights against similar spirits, but none can overcome Jesus Christ or stop His kingdom from advancing worldwide (Acts 28:30-31; Hebrews 12:28). The epistle to the Colossians proves that Jesus Christ is the One True God, disproving the false teaching of a triune God. Since Christ is preeminent, and all the fulness of the Godhead dwells in Him, how can there be more than one God?
In 2008, I delved into a study and taught a series about the Fruit of the Spirit. What caught my attention was the "twelve manner of fruits" mentioned in Revelation 22:2 from the Tree of Life. It made me wonder if there were twelve fruits instead of the nine listed in Galatians or the eight mentioned in 2 Peter. Ultimately, I realized that love is the fruit of the Spirit, and all the other qualities are simply attributes of God's love that He completes in His Church. In this updated version, the emphasis is on the fruit of the Spirit and its everlasting significance. God expects you to bear fruit, and obedience to Him guarantees entry into His kingdom. The law of the harvest established by God is infallible; you'll reap what you sow. So, it is wise to produce the fruit of the Spirit and bring joy to God.
God called me to preach at the age of 11, and three years later, in 1987, I began preaching. My pastor taught me to be intentional about "sermon seeds," writing down ideas and studying and preaching them when able. This book is a collection of un-preached messages from 1987 to the present. Through the years, my files have grown from hand-written notes to electronic notes on tablets, computers, and smartphones. These files encourage me, especially when my emotional well runs dry. Sometimes God brings something out of those folders and anoints me to preach it. Other times, the files grow as I continue adding potential message ideas to them. I share them with you now, desiring that you experience encouragement
