This autobiography begins with Nicole as a child in Paris at the cusp of World War II. Inspired by the American liberation of France in 1945 she eventually makes her way to the United States after many struggles in post-war France and Spain. She also shares personal intimate revelations as well as her travels and life experiences in Mexico and Australia.

This thesis, written in French, argues that l'Abbé Prévost, the author of Chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut, intended Chevalier des Grieux to be the hero of his novel. Yet, since the republishing of the novel in 1753, the critics of the book glorified Manon, the female character whom they chose to be the focus of plays, films and librettos. Chevalier des Grieux also represents the evolution of social conventions and classes of the era, towards the individual's search for freedom and the pursuit of happiness. L'Histoire du Chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut, roman de l'Abbé Prévost, continue d'inspirer des critiques remarquables. Cependant, depuis sa réédition en 1753, les librettos, les films, les dictionnaires et bibliographies, suppriment le premier nom du titre en faveur du second, Manon, qui, avec le temps, a acquis un prestige universel. Cette thèse se propose de respecter l'intention de l'auteur, qui était d'attribuer au Chevalier le rôle de héros. D'autre part, les métamorphoses du Chevalier représentent l'évolution des conventions sociales de l'époque, vers la quête de la liberté individuelle et la recherche du bonheur.
