The title for this volume of sermons is taken from Matt. xxii. 36-39, "Master, which is the great commandment of the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all they soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." The first six of these sermons relate more or less distinctly, to the first commandment; the seven following to the second; and the four additional sermons are of a miscellaneous character.
