The youth are the most vital human resource of the nation on whom the present and future of the country depend. The youth of today are the hopes of tomorrow and they are the back bone of the county. Development of youth determines the development of country. The socio-economic development and prosperity of rural areas depends to a considerable extent, on the type of youth living in rural areas, because the rural youth have abilities to orient themselves to go along the main stream of the development process.The study entitled ¿A study on shifting pattern of rural youth and the means for retention in agriculture¿ aimed to study the profile characteristics of rural youth, to find out the factors responsible for the movement of youth from agriculture, to measure the impact of shift from agriculture, constraints faced by rural youth in agriculture and suggestion for retaining rural youth in agriculture.
