This book is a compilation of my journey as a new painter over six years. Fifty years as a photographer helped my art eye as I began painting in retirement. Both painting and photography help me stop and observe the miracles around me in nature and life. I wrote this book to share this love with others and hope to inspire them to look closer at life around them and keep learning.

This photographic collection of native prairie plants guides the naturalist as well as the curious through a typical midwest prairie land. Portraits of specific plants are featured with basic scientific information and author comments. It will increase your appreciation for this unique native habitat, and encourage you to enjoy the outdoors near your home. All photographs were made in the Chicago land area.
