" Le 16 novembre 1726, trois voitures de deuil quittaient la forteresse d'Ahlden, château féodal des ducs de Brunswick. Un écusson voilé d'un crêpe s'abaissait au-dessus de la porte; le pont-levis retentissait sous le poids du catafalque, et le même blason, composé des armoiries écartelées de la maison d'Olbreuse en Poitou et de la maison princière de Brunswick-Lünebourg, se répétait sur le cercueil et sur les carrosses.
