This is a revised edition of "Who Speaks for Me?" published by Authorhouse nearly ten year ago, now is out of print. Subsequently, volume 2, "Fragments of Memory" and volume 3, "Aberration of Sentiment" have been published by Createspace.com.
This is a collection of poems in regard to my life. Some of these poems are selected from my Bilingual Poetry Collections, volume 2 "Fragments of Memory" and volume 3 "Aberration of Sentiment" and volume 1 "Alibis for Soul" with extensive revision.
A bilingual poetry collection written by an astronomer with the background and understanding of both English and Chinese cultures. Born in China in a peasant family, left home at the age of 12 to find work, then joined Artillery Youth Training Regiment. During the civil war, and eventually settled in Taiwan. He came to America nearly 50 years ago to pursue graduate studies and received his MA degree from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT., and Ph.D. in astronomy from Columbia University in New York City. He did several years of pre- or post-graduate researches at Yale and Wesleyan Universities, then taught and conducted research in astronomy at Western Connecticut State University for 30 years. During his tenure as Chairman and Distinguished Professor of Astronomy, he has received numerous grants and awards from the National Science Foundation and other agencies. He has published nearly 100 research papers in Astronomical and Astrophysical Journals and books, proceedings, translations including the late Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" from English to Chinese with Hong-Yee Chiu (Yuanliou Books, received Dr. Da-Yu Wu's Science Writer Prize. After his retirement from teaching, he joined the Astronomy Department, Yale University to continue his research in dark matter, galaxy and cosmology for few more years. Then began his passion of listening to classical music, read and write poetry and joining a Creative Writing group to enrich his writing skill. His poems and other essays have been published in various publications.

Phillip K. Lu, CSU Distinguished Professor of Astronomy Emeritus, earned an MA from Wesleyan University, CT and a Ph.D. from Columbia University, published more than 100 research papers in Astronomical Journals, translated and edited a half of dozen books and seven volumes bilingual poetry collections. Recipients of Dr. Da-Yu Wu's Science Writer Prize, 2006 and Minor Planet 175450Phillipklu name by the International Astronomical Union in 2014. After retirement from teaching and research, he is living in a leisure life, writing, painting, listening to classical music. He grows vegetables in summer, chops wood in winter and love to repair things. He is in a reasonably good health and retirement income is sufficient. Writing is part of his passion. He uses keyboard, mouse and monitor as the chimney in venting out his past humiliation or glory, success or failure, happiness or sorrow and letting all of them dissipate as if smoke.
