Libro de Arenas (prosa dispersa, 1965-1990) recoge los escritos que quedaron rezagados, a la muerte en 1990, en Nueva York, de Reinaldo Arenas, y que nunca antes se habían recopilado. Todos están atravesados por al menos tres temas: la pasión literaria, la política anticastrista y la fuerte personalidad de su autor. No se trata, por tanto, de un libro literario, aunque incluye bastante literatura; tampoco es un alegato político. Se trata de una voz rescatada de la dispersión -vale decir, del silencio y del olvido-, máxime cuando muchas de las causas que provocaron esa voz siguen silenciando a tantas otras.Hoy, Reinaldo Arenas, si hemos de creer a la creciente popula-ridad de sus obras y, sobre todo, a la curiosidad sobre lo que no puede menos que llamarse su leyenda o su mito -objeto ya de varios filmes, obras de ficción y hasta de una ópera-, ha encontrado un público lector. Reinaldo Arenas (1943-1990) remains one of the most famous Cuban writers in exile. This bilingual volume includes narrative poems, sonnets, excerpts from Arenas's prose poems, and previously unpublished works from his papers at Princeton University. Both the Spanish originals as well as English translations seamlessly capture the poet's sarcasm, humour, and powerful rhythms.

Arenas's first work set in the United States breaks new ground with the story of a young Cuban refugee who becomes a doorman at a luxury apartment building. Oddly alienated from the tenants, he is seduced by their pets, who are determined to revolt against humans and human society.
