Love lies at the core of who we are, why we were created and it is an intrinsic part of our nature as human beings. Love is also central to the mission of Christ; the purpose of the church; the foundation of human life; the essence of our true identity. Sadly however, our contempory western culture has so corrupted and distorted the concept of love, that it is very difficult to speak about it from a spiritual perspective. In this book, Robert Griffith attempts to press the 'reset' button on love by exploring the foundational truth found in 1 John 4:10, "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." This must always be our starting point. There is good reason why the most quoted verse in the Bible is John 3:16 which begins with, "For God so loved the world ..." To discuss love in a Christian context, we should always begin with God, Who is love. It is God's love, lavished upon us in and through Christ, which must be the foundation and source of all true love in us.
The Church we know and encounter today is only a dim reflection of the Church in the New Testament. Hence the title of this book: Waking the Sleeping Giant.Robert Griffith invites you to journey with him through the Acts of the Apostles to rediscover the Church which Jesus established and promised to continue building.
'Touching heaven, changing earth, in Christ, through Christ, for Christ.' That is our calling, our purpose, our reason for still being here. Every day, in every possible way, we are called by God to release heaven on earth. That was and still is the mission of Christ and He has called us to partner with Him in that mission. When God came into our world as Jesus of Nazareth, heaven was opened, and through His life, His death and His resurrection, Jesus touched heaven and changed the earth. Every sermon, every healing, every miracle, every action by Jesus was evidence of the coming Kingdom. Everywhere Jesus went He declared, "The Kingdom of heaven is here," or "the Kingdom of Heaven is among you," or "the Kingdom of Heaven is within you." Then before Jesus left the earth He said to His disciples, "As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you."This book will challenge you to live and minister on earth as it is in heaven, by God's grace and for God's glory!
Robert Griffith has had a very broad pastoral, ministry and leadership experience inside and outside the Church. In his extensive ministry as preacher, Pastor, teacher, writer and disciple of Christ he has always sought to answer the basic question, 'How then shall we live?' Robert's commitment to making complex issues simple has helped many people as they wrestle with the challenges which confront them in their Christian faith. Robert has prepared this small booklet to help people grapple with the age-old question of why a loving and all-powerful God would allow such suffering to exist in the world.

Robert Griffith's ministry as a preacher, writer, Pastor, teacher and disciple of Jesus Christ has been driven by two passionate desires: to givethe Church back to God and give the ministry back to God's people. In his first book, Amazing Grace, Robert gives us a deeper and broader understanding of God's grace in saving us, reconciling us, empowering us and sustaining us. When we understand 'grace' as God's empowering presence, we can then 'give the Church back to God' and let Jesus build His Church in His way.In this new book, Being the Church, Robert explores his second greatest passion: giving the ministry back to the people. Here, you will be re-introduced to the Church as it was birthed and was always meant to be.
God has invited each one of us to embrace a life characterised by freedom, wonder, power, purpose and an inexpressible and glorious joy which can only come from understanding God's amazing grace in all its truth. Religion poses the greatest threat to that abundant life. Religion is our feeble attempt to establish and maintain a relationship with God through every means possible other than that which He ordains, provides and empowers. In stark contrast to religion, the true gospel calls us into a personal, free, dynamic relationship with God, which was secured for us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The gift of this new life is revealed to us and empowered in us by God's Spirit. In this book you will find the keys to that abundant life as you embrace the empowering presence of God in your life.

In a year such as we have just endured, many schools will not even be producing yearbooks. This gives students an option. The designs also allow students to choose a page or section they identify with and sign, color, or sketch something for their friend."
