Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle Sr. was an eccentric millionaire and an amateur boxer, he was also a pioneer of combatives in the United States of America. He began his career with the Marine Corps as an instructor of bayonet tactics during World War I. Biddle was also one of the biggest promoters of W.E. Fairbairn's Defendu during the interwar period and taught Marines and G-men hand-to-hand fighting tactics up until the end of World War II. This book presents an overview of the man's story and his system.

In 1956, W.E. Fairbairn came out of retirement to teach the Cypriot police unarmed combat tactics. This book presents the "lost" manual Fairbairn wrote during that time period, which was previously known only to a few researchers. It is available to the public now for the first time.

The Military Police School course presented in this book, which is from 1950, was titled Personal Encounters. The unarmed combat techniques from the course allowed MPs to do their jobs with the knowledge and confidence that if they were ever in a situation in which they had to rely on the techniques that the techniques would not let them down.
