Go on a series of journeys, each messier than the last, to meet a cast of Curious Women and Other Creatures. It is less a prodding-of, and more a splitting-and-dancing-in-the-entrails-of, the idea of 'woman as monstrous' - an idea that variously brands women's bodies and minds as wild, slippery, dangerous, and (if we're lucky) miraculous. But don't be deceived by the mermaids, monsters, and metamorphoses; these are not some far-off lands of make-believe. These creatures roam among and live within us; they are in our mirrors and crouching in our futures. These are powerful stories, projected externally from those around us but also summoned from within as costumes for protection and self-possession. In these stories, the women have the agency to embrace their fantastic voices; be they delicate cheeps or deafening roars.
