Die Studie versucht, sich der Figur des Macbeth aus einer neuen Perspektive zu nähern, in der Macbeth als Kolonisator und nicht nur als Tyrann untersucht wird. Um dies zu erreichen, stützt sich die Dissertation in erster Linie auf Edward Saids Konzept der kontrapunktischen Lektüre. Darüber hinaus geht es in der Studie nicht nur darum, die im Stück verborgenen imperialen Mächte zu entschlüsseln, sondern auch um die psychologische Dimension, die in beiden Diskursen steckt. Die Untersuchung der Funktion der Erzähltechniken spiegelt sowohl die postkoloniale als auch die psychologische Dimension wider und zeigt folglich, wie diese Techniken im Film rekontextualisiert werden. Diese vergleichende Studie zwischen dem Originalstück und der Verfilmung konzentriert sich daher auf die Rekontextualisierung postkolonialer und psychoanalytischer Erzähltechniken im filmischen Diskurs, wobei die Funktionen von Kameraeinstellungen, Soundeffekten und Beleuchtung hervorgehoben werden, um zu untersuchen, wie Rasse, Kultur und Kolonisierung eine wichtige Rolle bei der Reflexion aller Dimensionen spielen, die mit dem Untergang der Figur des Macbeth zusammenhängen.

The study attempts to approach the character of Macbeth from a new perspective in which Macbeth is examined as a colonizer rather than just a tyrant. To achieve this, the dissertation relies first and foremost on Edward Said¿s concept of contrapuntal reading. Furthermore, the study is not only concerned with unraveling the imperial powers hidden in the play, but also with the psychological dimension embedded in both discourses. Examining the function of narratives techniques reflects both postcolonial and psychological dimensions and consequently reveals how these techniques are re-contextualized in the film. This comparative study between the original play and the film adaptation therefore, focuses on the re-contextualization of postcolonial and psychoanalytical narrative techniques in the cinematic discourse highlighting the functions of camera angle shots, sound effects and lighting, in inspecting how race, culture and colonization played a significant role in reflecting all dimensions that are related to the downfall of the character of Macbeth.
