Evening Star For most of us there is a dream of a way to find the right path for our lives. Early travelers often found guidance in the night sky using sextants and plotting the positions of the planets and stars. Marla Jamison, a lawyer in Portland DA's office has been a woman without a star as she buries a lot of her feelings as a way of protecting herself. When the unexpected lands on her path, it challenges all of her expectations. Randy O'Brian has come to Portland to be part of the thin blue line but carrying a secret with him. Raised on a ranch, he's as much cowboy as cop. For Randy, when you want something, you go after it, and he wants Marla. Their story, set mostly in Oregon, is one of love between very different people. It involves the investigation and hopeful arrest of a dangerous crime boss. Is Randy is who Marla wants to believe he is, her own evening star, or the most dangerous distraction of her life. Trailer: http: //vimeo.com/102042116
Desert Inferno: A tougher than nails Arizona border patrolman, Jake, meets a beautiful painter, Rachel, and soon finds himself the prey of one who wants to love him and another who wants to kill him-preferably slowly. Love, which he's avoided, is all that can save him. The last thing Border Patrolman Jake Donovan wanted to find at the end of a long day in a remote stakeout was a beautiful woman who had reported a dead body. For a lot of what he considered very good reasons, Jake avoided emotional entanglements of any sort especially with a woman like Rachel O' Brian, spoiled probably and rich without a doubt. As soon as she saw this rugged man, Rachel was equally determined that what he wanted was not what he needed. A successful landscape painter, who lived on a remote ranch with her father, she had finally found the man she wanted. So the chase was on as this time, Jake found he was the prey-- not only of the beautiful Rachel but of an old enemy from his past. This is a story of love, of the Southern Arizona desert, its dangers and beauties. It's about smugglers of Mexican antiquities, with a villain who has a taste for the macabre. It is most of all about passion and a man who doesn't yet know that love will be his salvation both physically and emotionally. 85,130 words. 4th book of the Arizona series chronologically staring with "Arizona Sunset"
It happened at the Pendleton Roundup 1974. Bronc and bull rider Bill Stempleton knew just what he wanted and how to get it. He needed to win his events long enough to buy the ranch of his dreams. He knew that is right up until he met the right woman at the wrong time. Sara had no idea what she wanted until a tall cowboy showed her some intriguing possibilities. He was like a wild wind blowing into her calm, ordered world and uprooting everything she thought she knew. Action, danger, drama, passion, and excitement are ahead when the rodeo comes to town. After this week, some lives will never be the same. 85,321 words-
Part 1," When Fates Conspire" asks the question is there fairness in life and what happens when we die, as two couples struggle to find their happily ever after while tragedy seems ever ready to put a period to their existence. With humor and pathos, two spirit guides, Remus and Justus try to make life better for these couples, but when fates conspire is that possible? Part 2, "The Dark of the Moon", the story advances a year and a half where Myra Farrell is struggling to hold onto her ranch, the Box Z, against formidable odds until a stranger appears. Will Pace Emerson be her salvation or her damnation? Pace is a man with secrets. Myra's spirit guide, Racine, distrusts him from first sight mostly because he can also see her. Humans aren't supposed to do that. The trilogy is wrapped up in Storm in the Canyon when three powerful women of different generations will be matched with three powerful men, all with their own secrets, their own destinies. The spirit and human world are faced with a third world-one mankind has long tried to suppress. Diablo Canyon has been drawing power to itself through natural events, which are now being used by timeless beings with a desire to retake power. Each of these stories takes the question of what is real one step farther into the unknown. I label them fantasy or paranormal but they are pretty metaphysical in that I have heard from one person or another that pretty much anything I have happen-- can and did. Now do we believe such stories? Well one point to Diablo Canyon is-- just be aware of what is around you-- that little second sight, the times you look back sure someone was there but you see no one. Really, was there something there?
