This is a tremendous book which is derived from two lectures of the Shaykh (May Allah protect him) and describes in detail the benefits of remembrance of Allah and also explains the Authentic Hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says: 'Allahumma inni 'abduka ibn 'abdika ibn amatika naasyati bi yadika, maada fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'uka. As'aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghayb 'indaka an taj'al al-Qur'aana rabee' qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa' huzni wa dhihaab hamm' but Allah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy."
The Lord of all creation loves those who ask, and He promised them that He would answer their du'a, and that He would make their hopes come true, and that He would give them what they ask for (fulfill their request); as long as they fulfill the statutory conditions when making their du'a and any preventative factors are removed. The text from the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) shows that the supplication described as not being rejected has criteria. In fact, many texts in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) show that the accepted du'a has rules that are necessary for the one making the du'a to be diligent in following them when making his du'a. Likewise, there are preventive factors that he must take care of so that his du'a is not rejected. Its explanations have come in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The scholars have called them: the conditions and etiquettes of supplicating. And they are extremely important. It is befitting for the one supplicating while supplicating to be intent on carrying out the etiquettes of supplicating so that his supplication is answered. And to be aware of the affairs that prevent it from being accepted so his supplication won't be rejected.
The Wise Luqman gave his son advice in the form of pearls of wisdom. His advice is relevant in all times and can be used by any parent who wants to raise a child in the light of Islam. His advice is beneficial for adults too and also for new Muslims. It is said that if all parents and children followed the advice of Luqman, then there would be no need to worry about the fate of the children in this life and the Hereafter, because they will be shown the path leading to Paradise.A few verses of the Qur'an containing Luqman's advice to his son contain the key to success in this life and on the Day of Judgment. This book explains these verses of the Quran in a beautiful way. Written by a trustworthy scholar this book is a must read for all Muslims. Even non-Muslims will find many benefits if they follow the advice of Luqman.
Fitan (fitnah - turmoil) has many sad consequences, both for the worldly life of a person and for his religion, and for this reason the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that death is better for a person than fitan. Mahmoud ibn Labid (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are two things that the son of Adam hates. He hates death, but death is better for him than affliction. And he hates small possessions, but few possessions are easier to calculate (on the Day of Judgment). Ahmad 5/427. The authenticity of the hadith was confirmed by Imam al-Suyuty and Sheikh al-Albani. See Sharh al-Sudur 35, Sahih al-Jami' 139.From Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The most beloved people for Allah are the most useful of them, and the most beloved deed in front of Allah Almighty and Great, is joy which you bring to a Muslim, helping him in fitan or paying off a debt for him, or satisfying his hunger. And indeed, to come to the aid of your Muslim brother in what he needs is more beloved to me than to commit seclusion in the mosque (i'tikaf) within a month. And whoever restrains his anger towards his brother (in Islam), Allah will hide his shortcomings, and whoever restrains his anger at the time when he wanted to pour it out, Allah will fill his heart with contentment on the Day of Judgment. And whoever goes out to help his Muslim brother in his need until he helps him, Allah will strengthen his feet on the Day when the feet slip. And verily, bad temper spoils deeds just as vinegar spoils honey." Ibn Abu ad - Dunya , at-Tabarani. Hadith is good. See Sahih al-Jami' 176.
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) explained, with regards to mentioning Allaah (Dhikr) and supplicating to Him (Dua), everything that people need. He explained the best manner in which to engage in supplicating to Allaah and mentioning Him: what to say during the day (morning) as well as at night (evening), during prayers and after, when entering a mosque and at coming out of it, before sleeping, while sleeping (when awakening from sleep in the night before the time to wake up), and when waking up, when scared, before eating and after, when mounting a means of transport (vehicle), before travelling, when one sees something he likes, or when he sees something he does not like, when a calamity (disaster) befalls, at times of hardship and when sorrowed (anxious, sadness, grief), and at all circumstances.Following these (making dhikr and dua as taught by the Prophet) will certainly make a person achieve lasting happiness, total comfort, safety and steadfastness. He (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also elucidated in great detail the varying degrees of mentioning Allaah and supplicating to Him, its kinds, manners, requisites and times. This book teaches you all these Duas and Dhikr that will help you achieve success in this life and the Hereafter.
