Terry McCarthy's poetic side first emerged during his four years as a cadet at West Point, and from that time on, he has used the written word, primarily poetry, to process his emotions and ambitions. The verses in Rhymes That Remain reflect the many different paths McCarthy's life has taken and are dedicated to friendship, family, fishing, and many more of his pivotal experiences and pleasures. He also uses poetry to examine his return to West Point after having been away from it for twenty years. Poignant and heartfelt, each piece touches a chord as McCarthy looks back at the young man he once was-and looks forward to the future. Along with a section on his military career, McCarthy's compilation presents a segment on the love poems he wrote in honor of his partner, Lola, and their courtship, exploring both the excitement of a new love and the contentment of a long relationship together. For each poem, McCarthy includes a biographical note about its inspiration and its meaning. Through this collection, he shows the many sides of himself-and the love and happiness he has found in his life.
This book presents a simple and direct three-step approach for developing effective safeguarding practice, providing structured guidance for frontline managers and practitioners.
