Hitters are primarily graded on their level of production. Metrics like .OPS (On Base Plus Slugging), .OBP (On Base Percentage) and Slugging Percentage (SLG) are primarily used to measure how productive a hitter is. What helps a hitter increase their chances of maximizing productivity? Their ability to make quality contact with the ball on a consistent basis. Making quality contact with the ball requires key psychological constructs that help increase factors like concentration, confidence and self-regulation to name a few. There are 5 core psychological constructs that all elite hitters regularly exemplify. They are a set of mental skills that can be learned and applied by nearly any hitter with enough purposeful effort. Steve Springer discusses 4 of them in his landmark audio CD called "Quality At Bats". I blend them all together into a useable model so that they help your formulate an elite cognitive map. The 5 Mental Tools of hitting that are discussed in this book will help you maximize your talent so you can compete one pitch at a time.
Dalton Ballgame is a world class sports psychology figure who lives in Montecito California. He is constantly approached by baseball groupies who ask him for guidance on how to help ballplayers. Dalton certifies various girls and they are able to replicate Dalton's penchant for bringing out the best in players. Largely inspired by the 1978 Rolling Stones album, this story takes the reader into the world of an elite pitcher. A rival mental side figure named Adam Scaramunga (who looks just like his namesake in the James Bond film) attempts to throw a wrench in Dalton's successful operation, but he finds himself in deep trouble when a prominent attorney leads a class action suit with a pitcher from the Dodgers named Josh Anderson.
What sets the most sought after catchers apart from the rest? Sure, it is impressive to block well and have a quality pop time. It is always a bonus if you can also produce at the plate. However, the true measure of a catcher lies in that which cannot be measured: the intangibles. Scouts often use the term "Impact" when they refer to a true catching prospect. What they are looking for is someone who can get the most out of their pitchers psychologically. They are looking for a Crash Davis. If you are serious about maximizing your career as a catcher, then this is the book for you. This book contains the essential knowledge and skills that top catchers understand intuitively. It is a concise treatise that outlines key research from Albert Bandura and Robert "Bob" Rosenthal. After reading this book, you will have a working model on how to help each pitcher get and stay in the Zone. You will also have a concrete game plan on how to make sure that each of your pitchers go out and compete like cocky pricks. In short, you will have the Crash Davis Effect.
If you have read "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell, then you understand the power of the adaptive unconscious. The adaptive unconscious is a phenomenon that allows us to make rapid and surprisingly accurate snap judgments. It is largely based on the research of Robert Rosenthal and Nalini Ambady that describes our ability to make accurate assessments based on short windows of behavioral and linguistic information. This book is being written to help Scouts make optimal snap judgments and follow up with legendary resources on the mental side. It can also help college coaches make more effective recruiting decisions and equip them to develop players even faster to reduce the need for "Building Seasons". This book is written in stream of consciousness and it is primarily the result of meeting with Bob Rosenthal at UC Riverside. In this book, you will learn the following: -The Importance of the Adaptive Unconscious on Player Assessment. -The Necessity for Blending Two Forms of Intelligence to Make Optimal Draft/Trade Selections. -The Nature of Pure Intent and the Ultimate Approach to Player Development. -The Impact of Suggestion and Suggestibility on the Snap Judgments. -The Focal Secrets of Elite Performers. -My Unique Scouting System to Evaluate Prospects on the Mental Side. And much more!As a prospect thinks and focuses, so they perform. The same is true for Coaches and Scouts when it comes to prospect development. #ThinkGoldGetGold #USA
What sets elite performers apart from everyone else at the professional and international level where everyone has physical talent? it is the way they think and focus on a play by play basis. Olympic gold medalists and players who regularly win tournaments all possess a similar cognitive blueprint. they are intuitive, adaptable and relentlessly driven to win. beyond winning, their true emphasis is on mastery which constantly eludes them. gold medals and prize money are simply a symbol of their momentary mastery which has yet to be further honed. in this book, you will learn: -the same cognitive blueprint that top players possess.-how to develop yourself into a versatile and well-rounded player. -the cognitive control techniques which are used by the top athletes on the planet. -how to build and maintain a strong self-efficacy.-the true winning mindset. #ThinkGoldGetGold #US
This book is written primarily for the scouts who are on constant mission to sign Impact prospects. Impact prospects are those who have quality physical tools along with the mindset of a champion. Signing (and/or trading for) Impact prospects contributes directly to the creation and maintenance of a championship culture for an organization. Scouts are adept at recognizing physical, sabermetric and mechanical tools, but their current methods are lacking when it comes to evaluating prospects where it matters most: the mental side. This book will give you a concise guide on how to scout prospects in terms of the mental side and it will also teach you to help prospects develop a Million Dollar Head.
Have you ever wondered what secrets ELITE pitchers know that help them compete at a high level more consistently than others? Perhaps you already have physical talent and understand that the mental side is what truly distinguishes top performers. You may have even learned about the mental side from some big names but your results could still be more consistent. What you need is a concrete psychological framework to operate from. All top pitchers have five distinct cognitive patterns in which they approach the craft. These five secrets of ELITE level pitchers are in this book. The good news is that they can be learned and strengthened by nearly anyone with enough purposeful effort. Each chapter contains specific exercises on how to strengthen each mindset so you can set yourself up for success. It is often said that the game of baseball (or softball) is played one pitch at a time. When you approach each outing with a one pitch at a time focus, you are more likely to be in the Zone. The Zone is not some random phenomenon that "only happens so often", it is purposefully cultivated or "summoned". In order to access the Zone more often, you have to be more systematic and intentional. The five secrets contained in this book ARE the five real skills for competing one pitch at a time. They are known as the 5 Mental Tools and they represent the very fabric of the Zone. If you want to pitch your best on a more consistent basis, then you have found the right book. After reading this book, you will be reminded of your true purpose as a pitcher every time you step on the mound. #USA #ThinkGoldGetGold #FAH
