Friedrich Froebel (1782 - 1852), the inventor of kindergarten, was one of the most influential educational thinkers of the 19th century. This book showcases the cutting-edge work being undertaken around the world inspired by this pioneer of early childhood education and shows the many ways in which Froebel's work has been applied and extended. It presents a wealth of Froebelian expertise on topics including pedagogy and curriculum, history, architecture, neuroscience, peace and religious education and links Froebel's theories to other thinkers including John Dewey, Michel Foucault, Paulo Freire, Aili Helenius and Chen Heqin. It highlights what Froebel means today in a variety of settings around the world and includes contributions from academics and practitioners based in North and South America, Europe, Australasia, Africa and Asia.
Violet abandons her son to the task of making dangerous smuggling runs. What is he smuggling? He can't tell anyone. But he knows he has to do it or else innocent people will suffer. And he knows enough about suffering just like his mom, Violet. Set in the six months leading up to the 2020 lockdown, this compelling debut novel tells the story of a family as they travel from despair to hope in their fractured relationships. Will they heal? Violet is a glimpse into the life of the woman you may see sleeping on a bus stop bench or shuffling along the street dragging a heavy load that is only sometimes visible. What is she carrying? Violet is a story of life's hardships, gritty reality, ultimate change, and discovery of meaningful purpose. You may recognize yourself in this story or maybe someone you know. Maybe you will recognize the struggles Violet faces or be appalled at her life decisions. Violet is a product of her environment who is also, like all of us, seeking to be safe and content in a sometimes brutal world.

When you find yourself faced with unimagineable trauma, chronic pain and relentless addiction? Mother's Medicine tells the story of Tina's journey through yoga and self acceptance, self healing, and ultimately, recovery. It is an inspiring memoir that explores the topic of a woman's right to feel supported and be heard during birth and beyond. Mother's Medicine cracks open Australia's health system and asks women everywhere to consider how we go within to access our own medicine: our intuition.
