Bilingual Edition The tremendous growth of Latin American cities in the last few years has continued to aggravate a situation that has its roots in both the Spanish and Indian cultures. The Latin American, even more than the North American of the last century, has viewed the city as his one and only hope for a future. This has led to a concentration of 30% or more of the population of any given country being packed together in and around the largest city, usually the capital. If we are going to win Latin America for Christ, then we need to develop some methods and systems whereby we can reach out to these ever-expanding cities and touch the people where they live. The pages that follow are a compilation of ideas and dreams that, seared with the hot coals of reality, have been growing and developing in my heart over the past few years. I would like to express my appreciation to Don Kammerdiener for his suggestions which focused my attention on this need. I would also be remised if I did not mention all the people with whom I have worked and who participated in the development of this project. These are my wife, my missionary co-laborers, and my fellow church members who dared to dream with me and see those dreams become a reality. I believe this method is not limited to this one location but could and should be used in every urban setting in Latin America, if not the world.

A rash of ministry professionals, particularly young ministers, who took their own life prompted me to write this book at this time. It would seem that the clouds of depression had so overwhelmed them they did not see any solution but removing themselves from the equation. The letter at the end reflects on my struggle. Under other circumstances, I might have been one of those statistics. In their most difficult moments, a profession designed to help others was not there to help them or me through the turmoil. I pray that books like this one will stem the tide of this terrible epidemic.The title, "If I Had Only..." is the beginning of many sentences. We wish that we had known then what we know now. Twenty-twenty hindsight is terrific, but it would have been helpful to have known those things beforehand.The purpose of the book is to help get ahead of the "If I Had Only...'s" you will face traveling this leadership path. Some things you have already encountered - maybe this validates the need for this book. You may never have to deal with others, but read them anyway - you never know. But perhaps there is one thing that will help you right now - and many more will help you in years to come.Reflecting on my time as Executive Director of a sizeable Association, I wish that someone had shared some of the things I have included in this book. At first, I might not have been open to the help, but it is what I needed, and with time I would have appreciated it.Therefore, you might not think you need to hear the things I share in this book. An extremely short booklet containing the wisdom titled 'Tears from a Persian Rose'. It comprises a collection of religious phrases as a guide to the safety, well being and general happiness of humans living upon this Earth. In 1880 when his children listed their father's birthplace: James Alexander wrote Massachusetts; America Frances wrote New York; Charles William wrote Maine; John Samuel wrote New York.He traveled to Alabama and partner with Alexander McDonald, who became his father-in-law when James married Mary. With John Hurst and Asa Cox, they set up a trading post in Fredonia, Alabama. The building still stands today. They also had a tanning business in Troup County, Georgia, and Fredonia. This is the story of my years in Paraguay. As I look back on my life, I realize that it has been a rather interesting one. Therefore, I thought I would tell my story. In this day and age, with print on demand and eBooks, anyone can become a published author. So why not me? It only takes time, and I seem to have a lot of it disposable now that I'm retired. There are a couple of caveats I need to add here at the beginning. One, these are my memories and, as such, may not be entirely reliable. As with most people, I have a tendency to remember some things and forget others. I, also, don't necessarily remember it the way it really was, but the way, well, I remember it. I have asked some of those "who were there" to read over what I have written to confirm my memories, but, of course, they also remember what they remember. So, there is no way of really knowing exactly what happened in each case. I have done the best I can. Regardless of the missing details, these are stories and they made for an interesting life. Two, in some cases I am re-telling stories I was told. Again, these depend on my memories but also on the storyteller's memories. I have tried to research the details as best I can to make sure the story, I am telling lines up with the historical information available referencing the moment around my story. Enjoy the stories. Know that they may or may not have happened exactly as portrayed but nevertheless are interesting and for the most part entertaining.

Tom Law certainly hits one in the face with his blunt analysis and will undoubtedly challenge apparently well held views and belief systems. We live in uncertain times where many of the threats and fears since the end of WWII have not dissipated. A tome to make one sit up and reappraise the realities of those 'slings and arrows' encountered each day of our lives in a complex world.

Boy in Blue Raincoat is a short and simple story about a boy whose family roots can be traced back to the convict era. Growing up in Eastern Victoria, Australia, in a remote timber mill town in the nineteen sixties, the boy finds solace and joy in the natural environment away from the town. He is a loner, has few friends at school and despised a little by a minority of his teachers due to his father's prison record. Despite this, he has both a great appreciation and love for his dad. The boy finds unexpected true friendship with a Japanese soldier still in hiding from a distant war. Both the boy and the soldier must adjust to the intrusion of a new family into their favourite bush retreat. Also, the boy finds love from the daughter of a wealthy grazier; but just as things are looking up, his whole world is upturned by the unfolding of a train of events beyond his control.

So be warned: the flow is deceptive as the text is driven into cataracts, over waterfalls and through chasms lined with sharp rocks and oblique boulders. The writing is at times confused, abstract and didactic.. in other words, unconventional! Never the less, apart from being confronting it is a worthwhile read hopefully with lessons to be learned. Although the tome displays bucket loads of negativity and evil, the coda is a final escape route to the possibility of an alternative and possibly something better. Touches upon all the current problems and dilemmas facing humanity.

The title 'In Ya Face' came about from a close friend who, on viewing some of Tom's twitter posts, thought they were a little aggressive and bordering on the offensive! The writing is at times confused, abstract and didactic.. in other words, unconventional! Never the less, apart from being confronting it is a worthwhile read hopefully with lessons to be learned. Guns and gun ownership is once again in focus with the recent advent of more massacres and police killings. Tom looks hard at the causes and suggests some remedies based on the Australian model. The second amendment is an extremely hard nut to crack and many will adhere to it forever. But Tom suggests that there must eventually be a letting go of an 18th century value if lives are to be saved in the 21st century and beyond. The facts are laid bare... it is now up to our politicians and law makers to free us all of this madness! Highly controversial but never the less a good read!

The internet is awash with scammers and deceivers wanting you to dig deep and send them money for a reward... generally nothing! Tom Law examines several ways of identifying scammers and their stock in trade often received as unwanted emails. Some are obvious to most but others almost seem genuine accompanied with fake documents etc. to draw you in. The internet brides look alluring and often pretty... but what you get is often not what you see! A sometimes humorous exposure to the con artist with deadly intent, Tom Law provides sufficient warning to the cruel reality of the sophisticated take and artistry.

The book includes some basic chemistry of the industries that produce the most carbon dioxide.

This is the Black and White Edition of Tom Law's 'Return to Animalia'. It might be described as 'extreme' in terms of its analysis of current social and political attitudes in Australia. However it should also appeal to a wider audience in that it touches upon many contemporary world problems that trouble our daily lives. The author naturally recommends the full colour version for full impact, however for those that merely wish to get to the kernel, this edition will suffice.
