"In Between Energy" (book four of the "In Between Time" series) begins in February 2051, the day after the events of "In Between Matter" end. After its stunning failure to fix the timeline, the Ranch regroups. The World's Time Travel Facilities struggle to learn how to work together, as well as get along with family, friends and those in authority over them, in a radically different, politically chaotic, reversed world and universe. Anticipating a worst-case scenario, a select few at the Ranch are compelled to put a subterfuge into motion, which initiates many unintended consequences. Regarding the timeline fix, they have no choice, except one; to try again. After new time travel techniques are tested, Joe and Janice are sent back together on a series of increasingly dangerous missions. While they have some success, they repeatedly fail to achieve the most important goal. Then, an eccentric English scientist upends the agreed upon and accepted strategy. Meanwhile, more connections are uncovered which provide perturbing contexts about events of the past year. Faced with deceptions, dodges, disturbing dreams and fearing a fate worse than death, Janice convinces Joe that they must take matters into their own hands. But their efforts are futile. Nothing can stop what has been put in motion. Relieved that their worst fears prove to be unfounded, they resume their roles and successfully perform their remaining missions. However, many issues still remain unresolved, including the consequences of their actions. The serendipitous discovery that a mysterious prime number was surreptitiously inserted into a simulation, leads to a shocking revelation that causes a crisis of conscience for everyone. Finally, data seized from the enemy time travel facility reveals their opponent's ultimate objective and the inconceivably immense arrogance of the adversary.
IBT is a love story, nestled within a Bible study, wrapped in a science fiction tale. A time traveler from the near future unintentionally causes changes to a well-known Biblical account. The scientists and engineers begin a search for the love of his life so that the restoration mission can be planned and performed. But everyone is stumped when they realize he hasn't met her yet. The unknown unknowns are plentiful. Nothing goes according to plan and there are many unintended consequences. Near future technology, rules and regulations, and an alternate timeline where everything is the same, but different, add to the complexity of the task. With one twist and turn after another, some tragic, some humorous; the two week roller coaster ride finally turns into a race against time itself. The story continues in the sequel, "In Between Space" ISBN 978-1505371734 and ASIN B00VW5NC2U.
"In Between Matter" (book three of the "In Between Time" series) begins in early 2051, two months after the events of "In Between Space" end. The New Year dawns with a mysterious tale of murderous intrigue in a foreign country. Then the action shifts to Joe and Janice as they continue to heal and recover under the watchful eyes of the Ranch medicals and their Guardian Angel agents. Saturday, January 28, 2051 begins as a surprise work day, with all personnel restricted to base, except one. Various working sessions are conducted throughout the facility to address past, present and future concerns. But by far the largest and most important activity is the unpowered end-to-end test of the Next Generation Time Travel chamber. All is proceeding well, when a series of unexpected and unexplained Timeline Adjustment Waves rock the Ranch, knocking out all communication with the outside world. Automatically time isolated and protected, the Ranch attempts to rescue the one person who was caught on the outside, and reestablish communications. Meanwhile the aloof inflexible martinet, who has been thrust into command, begins to target Joe and Janice as part of an insane deadly hidden agenda. As difficulties, twists and turns multiply, the Ranch learns they are not the only ones struggling to deal with a world turned upside down. Some recent allies become the catalyst for an uneasy truce between the world's Time Travel Facilities. While no one claims responsibility for the calamity, everyone agrees that the Ranch is in the best position to act. Faced with more questions than answers, and with the relationship between cause and effect threatening to unravel, the Ranch makes contact with the one person who has a chance of figuring things out and they embark on an attempt to fix the shattered timeline. Faced with being stuck in a bizarre timeline and the likely end of all time travel, they know failure is not an option. But as they attempt to make sense of the incomprehensible mess, they make astonishing discoveries about Joe and Janice, and the key role they have played, are playing, and always will play.

The story picks up the day after "In Between Time" (ISBN 978-1-4961-8626-3) ends. While attempting to reintegrate themselves into a subtly though significantly different timeline the Ranch team writes their report and performs a calibration that covers 2000 years. Joe and Janice have their second and third dates. A mission request from an allied nation is seized upon as an opportunity to break through the bureaucratic gridlock that has been limiting the capabilities of the Ranch for years. As they all stand on the threshold of attempting truly momentous deeds, tragedy strikes and Janice's two close friends are taken from her by a mysterious accident. Reeling from her loss and with the inquisition pointing the finger at her, Janice begins to question her sanity and whether what she has been experiencing is even real. As Joe prepares to travel further back in time than anyone has ever attempted before, he is assigned a super woman femme fatal from his own timeline as a trainer. When it appears that she has her own designs on Joe and a scheme to get Janice permanently out of the way, Janice has a crisis of faith as she agonizes why God would allow this to happen. But the twists and turns have only barely begun as they careen from one emergency to another, and repeatedly learn along the way that all is not as it seems. For unforeseen by any of them, the unintended consequences of their decisions and actions have placed the Ranch on a collision course with an insidiously evil force.
