At the age of 19, Mozart wrote a series of violin concertos that marked his coming of age as a composer of orchestral music. Now a part of the standard repertoire, these works convey the composer's uniquely sensual brand of melody. This volume comprises all five works: Violin Concerto No. 1 in B-flat majorViolin Concerto No. 2 in D majorViolin Concerto No. 3 in G majorViolin Concerto No. 4 in D majorViolin Concerto No. 5 in A majorThis practice and performance edition is the first to combine all of these pieces in a single, low-cost version with a separate and removable 64-page solo violin score. Reproduced from early authoritative editions, this volume is an essential addition to the collections of intermediate and advanced musicians.
This newly edited version of Mozart's 'Exsultate, jubilate' (K.165), including the famous 'Alleluja', matches up this piano vocal score with a new set of orchestra parts (available separately). Previous versions of this work by other publishers are traditionally littered with mistakes and wrong notes / instructions / inconsistent dynamics, which have been fixed in this edition, including the addition of rehearsal marks which correspond with the conductor score and orchestra parts. Mozart's 1773 work is a motet consisting of four sections: Exsultate, jubilate (Allegro, F Major), Fulget amica dies (Secco Recitative), Tu virginum corona (Andante, A Major) and Alleluja (Molto allegro, F Major). It has become one of the most popular works for sopranos and mezzo-sopranos, notably the finale (Alleluja) and is frequently a major study work at conservatoires and universities. This new version is for voice and piano, with the piano part adjusted to more closely resemble the orchestral parts.
Mozart was a faithful correspondent, and this full and expert collection of more than 100 letters covers his brief and tumultuous life, from the years when the child prodigy astonished the courts of Europe to his final days, when he wrote loving notes to his wife and long, money-seeking letters to friends and patrons. The letters abound in both trivial and important events: observations about the people he met; comments on the reactions to his music; satirical remarks about dilettantes and incompetent professionals; and thoughts on other composers, pianoforte and organ playing, singing, and his own methods of composition.Mozart's letters are interspersed in this edition with a generous selection of letters from his father. This two-sided, voluminous correspondence shows the close and sometimes conflicting relationship between father and son. Mozart's letters to his sister are especially playful, exhibiting an impish, lighthearted wit reminiscent of his music, and the letters to his wife are equally revealing. Taken all together, this collection presents an informal and intimately detailed portrait of a genius.

One of the brightest stars in the musical firmament, Mozart amassed a stunning number of achievements in his short life, none more spectacular than the composition of his last three symphonies, in 1788, in little more than six weeks. This edition contains Mozart's last two symphonies, representing the pinnacle of Mozart's genius as an orchestral composer. Although each is very different from the other, both are among the most popular symphonic works ever composed. Symphony No. 40 is a symphonic gem, from the passion and urgency of its opening measures to the dash and vitality of its closing rondo. Symphony No. 41, by contrast, is a grand, full-bodied, imposing masterwork -- the peak of Mozart's symphonic expression. Both are published here in full score with original instrumentation and bar-numbered movements. Ideal for study in the classroom, at home, or in the concert hall, this affordable, high-quality, conveniently sized volume will be the edition of choice for music students and music lovers alike.
