Kassan is tormented when he learns what his lover had done to his family. Master Igen saves Kassan from the fire and keeps him at his side. After a long hesitation Kassan takes revenge on his enemy and flees. But he is quickly captured again and tortured in a cell while Master Igen is unconscious from his attack.
The attack on the Zakador estate is bloody and merciless. Unfortunately, Kassan is gravely injured and is left fighting for his life. Master Igen doesn't leave his lover's side, helping him and hoping that he might recover soon. Hakar's child is allowed to live at the estate. The child brings happiness and laughter to an otherwise gloomy house. As the hard winter is over, King Asakin and Caesar make travel preparations, but going back to the palace might bring turmoil, as the Queen Mother is not ready to renounce her position without a fight.
The Queen Mother sends Lasil, her most trusted subject, to lead the army against the Zakador clan. Luckily, Lasil used to be under Igen's command. Thus, she returns to her former Master with valuable information and a plan to defeat the Queen. Laone, the forsaken daughter of the Banan family, also presents an arrangement that might be convenient for the people at the Zakador estate. With the harsh winter arriving sooner than expected and the Queen Mother's gargantuan army in proximity, Igen, Kassan and King Asakin will face grim challenges.
Kassan becomes terribly ill and Igen discovers that Laone is guilty of poisoning him. In the meantime, the Queen Mother sends her fierce army, led by Hakar, to attack the Zakador estate. Igen has no choice but to get involved in the battle. Aided by spies, Hakar enters the residence and takes a valuable prisoner. Kassan must finally pick a side: the last surviving member of his family or the man he grew to love. King Asakin faces dilemmas of his own, with his mother bent on him continuing their lineage and a forbidden budding romance on the way.
King Asakin and Caesar are worried that Igen, the only heir of the Zakador clan, has chosen a man as his lover, thus endangering the survival of his clan. Igen throws Hakar's helper in prison, vowing to never let Kassan find out that she is bearing his brother's child. In the meantime, Laone, King Asakin's bride to be, who is also a close friend of the Queen Mother, arrives to escort him back to the palace. Her plans involve not only the King, but also Master Igen. Will Igen and Kassan's bliss be short-lived?
Caesar receives unexpected help and returns safely to King Asakin. Kassan's troubles haven't ended, as he is captured, drugged and sold as a slave by someone he trusted. Kassan's new master approaches Igen's house, hoping to get a hefty ransom, if Igen wishes to repurchase the bed slave he used to keep so close to him. Nonetheless, a reckless servant turns him away, insisting that his master wouldn't be interested. As soon as other masters hear that Kassan used to be Igen's slave, they get in line to spend a night with him, disregarding the cost. In such circumstances, Kassan's only hope resides in his biggest enemy.
"My life or the safety of your flesh and blood. Well, I guess you definitely made your choice." To test Kassan's loyalty, Igen plans a trip to the forest of Samagon, a spectacular but secluded place. Only the two of them are supposed to know the location. A spy overhears and discloses details about the trip to Hakar. Thus, Hakar manages to take a valuable prisoner and start negotiations. King Asakin loses his most trustworthy companion and is determined to get him back safely. Meanwhile, Igen finds out that Kassan might have known about the assassination attempt. Will the prisoner be rescued? Will Igen forgive Kassan or has his patience been tested enough?
"What did you just drink? You idiot! Isn't this Mesa poison?!" Igen receives unexpected visitors: king Asakin and Caesar, his helper. The guests try to interfere with the running of his household. Caesar discloses gruesome details about a member of Kassan's family. Hakar is determined to execute his revenge and devises a plan to get rid of Igen once and for all. A sudden confession changes everything. As Igen decides to use and abuse him, Kassan drinks the poison he was hiding. What will happen to Kassan? Is Hakar's plan destined to work? Will the king find out that his mortal enemy is closer than expected?
"Kassan is believed to be the sole survivor of the Azkun clan, after Master Igen, a ruthless ruler, slaughters his family. Master Igen brings the young boy as a slave into his home, exploiting, beating and starving him. The only one who cares about him enough to risk the Master's wrath is Lanour, a fellow slave. Oblivious to the fact that Master Igen is the one who had the members of his clan killed, Kassan starts falling in love with him. To make things more complicated, his brother is alive, ready to take vengeance"--Back cover.
