The social demand all over the world requires a competent professional who dominates, in addition to his specialty, a foreign language that allows him to interact with his colleagues from other countries, and achieve a better professional performance. That is why nowadays the teaching of this language occupies a very important place in the professional improvement of the professionals of Speech-Language Pathology specialty; and particularly the development of the reading comprehension ability, since reading constitutes one of the main sources of obtaining scientific-technical information for the professionals of this specialty. Based on this statement, the research "system of communicative exercises for the reading comprehension of texts in English for specific purposes in the intermediate level English improvement course for speech-language pathologists" is proposed, in correspondence with which the objective was formulated: to propose a system of communicative exercises for the development of the ability of reading comprehension of texts in English for specific purposes in the professional improvement course for speech-language pathologists.
The research carried out in previous editions on the need to propose a series of communicative exercises to awaken the interest of professionals of the Speech-Language Pathology specialty in overcoming the reading comprehension skills and the lack of specific vocabulary of their specialty contributed to the realization of this work, which aims at creating a system of communicative exercises that will allow eradicating the difficulties previously detected. According to specialists' criteria, the subject was favorable to recognize the pertinence, updating and applicability of the proposed system of communicative exercises.
