"The Beauty in Bereavement" takes the reader along with Judy Tremont as she, following the recent loss of her husband, apprehends the beauty in bereavement. Judy Tremont is an aging woman in a world which is quite changed. The recollections of her husband, Augustus Tremont, and of her son, Franklin Tremont, intermittent and entwined in the narration with dreams she has been having since her husband's death provokes thoughts pertaining to turn of the century philosophy, turn of the century familial dynamics, and music. "Equal Men" takes the reader along with protagonist Richard Louis on a defining day in his life-the day he retires and the day his son, in his eyes, atolls.

The temporal travels through Constantinople in 1453, Constantinople in 1923, and Newfoundland and Labrador in 2017, follow a certain recurrence in Orthodox spirituality. The fantastic escape of a priest named Pantagathus, in 1453 Constantinople; the travels of Panagiotis in the evacuation of Constantinople in 1923; and the pursuits of Pete Tsiminis, in 2017-ravel the macrocosm of jest and the senescence of Orthodox heritage together, in a piquant and veritable story. There has not been a story of this type told, with the structural contiguity and with the stark honesty. Otus in Betulceæ does depict a semblance in the disparaged time periods, and the novel does accentuate the unseemliness of time.

Charles Rich and William Dean were friends for over twenty years. They were intelligent, well-educated men in a small farming community named Jaffrey NH. on the Massachusetts' border. William was called Doctor, although trained as a doctor, he never practiced. He lived with his wife, Mary, on a hilltop farm two miles out of the village of Jaffrey. People saw lights from the mountain beginning in the summer of 1916, and it was feared there were German spies signaling boats in the ocean sixty miles away about troop movements from Fort Devens. The Department of Justice sent agents to Peterborough NH in April of 1918 to investigate the lights under The Espionage Act of 1917. On the morning of August 14, 1918 Dr. Dean's body was found in a well at the same time his good friend showed up with a black eye.
