  • - Will a divided America survive?
    af Stone J Seguin
    128,95 kr.

The American nation is dangerously divided, and this division is unlike any time since the first Civil War. Is a second Civil War impossible or inevitable? The leviathan federal government is bankrupt and takes more and more of the people's money and property. Some view this as necessary, but others view it as tyranny. Liberals versus Conservatives. Left against Right. Blue States and Red States. Urban spilt from Rural. States against the Federal government. Ethnic group against ethnic group. Makers versus takers. Rich and poor. When will we reach the breaking point? The Middle East erupts into a major regional war and sends the world economy and markets into a tail spin and America's cities break out in riots and widespread violence. The Federal government takes action and some states begin to take a stand -- first one, then another, and another. Strong governors stand up to the President for states' and people's rights. A misunderstanding ignites a battle in the skies and it's American versus American. Can the conflict be stopped before another civil war engulfs the entire nation? Is the American dream over? Even those who simply want the madness to end will be forced to choose sides. What side will you be on and what will you do?

How prayer changed my life. In 1991 I was working as an undercover narcotics agent for the federal government. I was ready to go undercover and ensnare some drug trafficker as I had done many times, so it was to be just another routine day on the job. As the day progressed things went horribly wrong and I ended up getting shot in the back and, paralyzed for life in an instant. I grew up attending church and knew about prayer, yet never exercised the divine privilege until that fateful day when the bullet hit my spine and before I fell to the ground I said, "God, please don't let me die." Little did I know or understand at that moment that I was praying for the first time, and, to this very day, I believe God answered my prayer. This book I hope will encourage people to read what the Bible has to say about such a profound, powerful, and, wonderful privilege prayer is. Prayer is not just about asking God for things; it is so much more. I hope and pray you experience God's response to you when in reverence, adoration, confession, and thanksgiving, and supplication you approach Him. Pastor John Yera

As a young child, I always felt the Lord's hand gently guiding and directing each step in my quest for truth. As I grew, married, and had a family, the Lord began to enlighten my spirit with His character and His desires not only for me but also for His children. In my quiet times, the Holy Spirit would flood my mind with words. As I wrote what the Spirit declared, I was amazed and humbled. How could this handmaiden of the Lord hear that still small voice with such profound wisdom? Insight into the character of a Holy God began to permeate my spirit. Many times an entire prophetic poem would be completed in a few minutes. Others were deposited a few words at a time. Over the last two years, I've noticed a change in the intensity of the Lord's voice. He is calling His children to new levels of holiness, obedience, and love. My prayer for each one who journeys with me through this book is that these poems will touch your heart and illuminate your understanding of the Greatness of a Father's love for you - His child. "For the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26 Darla Colombo, a retired school teacher, has three children and seven grandchildren. She is actively involved in Covenant Church, which is located in Fairmont, WV. Belief in the Word, the blood, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit anchors her faith in a Holy God.

  • - The Opening Lines of Great Literature
af Donald (Cardiff University UK) Thomas

How well--read are you? This literature quiz book will tell you. Some of those opening lines of great novels, plays, short stories and poems will be familiar, some are challenging and a few are for the most knowledgeable among us. See how well you do. Ideally, the beginning sentence of a literary work should draw the reader in and want him or her to continue on. Authors usually devote a great deal of time to this first sentence. Indeed, there is a story, probably myth, about a writer who spend twenty years rewriting the first sentence of his novel! Oonald J. Thomas has spent 40 years teaching language and literature, in three languages, from elementary school through college. He currently teaches foreign language in college at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, NY.

SHARON WALLACE IS A REMARKABLE WOMAN. I know of few people who could endure half a century of physical, emotional, and substance abuse and emerge from that tunnel such a kind, giving, and caring person. When Sharon hired me to co-write this book, neither of us knew of the grueling odyssey ahead of us. Yet, she soldiered through debilitating bouts of physical weakness, hospital trips, and the effects of prescriptions drugs, determined to tell her story and warn younger women not to travel the road to self-destruction. One example of her generosity:After Sharon paid me under our contract, she said, “I feel like I owe you more. This is taking so long.”I had made several 140-mile round trips from my house to hers, but felt that was all part of the original agreement. “You don’t owe me anything more,” I told her.She called me in March, 2015. “Ray, I need you to come up here. I want to show you something.” I hesitated, staring down a very busy weekend. She sweetened the pot, “I’ll give you gas money.” So I knew it was important to her.I arrived and we talked while her friend and caretaker, Greg, moved my car out of the driveway. When he returned, Sharon said, “Come outside so I can show you.”In the driveway was a BMW with a poster attached: “Ray, don’t be a screamer when you see your new Beamer.”I was stunned, speechless, and very grateful. The timing was perfect. My 1989 Park Avenue made the trip home, but conked out for good after another 50 miles. I literally would not have made it back to Sharon’s one more time. That is the spirit of the woman who wrote this book to encourage and inspire others.—Ray Balogh

This book documents the inherently flawed nature of America's public school system as currently structured. Contemporary recommendations for correcting the system invariably treat symptoms rather than the inherent problem of government control over parental and religious rights. The book documents that: education is a religious endeavor and that freedom of religion is guaranteed in the United States, parents have an inalienable right to raise their children free from government constraints on education, civil government is to protect and not deprive citizens of their inalienable rights, the educational history of our country affirms that education has always had a religious function, recent interpretations of the First and Fourteenth Amendments are both misguided and opposite from their original meanings, federal control of education and education taxation is outside the legitimate authority of the U.S. Constitution, and government control of education at federal, state, and local levels is inherently tyrannical. Addressed in separate chapters, the above-mentioned issues, individually and collectively, build a compelling case for the disestablishment of government control and the return of parental control to education. To quote James Madison, government should relate to education in the same way as it does to religion-not to "intermeddle" with it.
