The Buffalo Naval Park, the largest inland naval park in the country, was established in 1977 to honor, educate, inspire, and preserve. Croaker came to the naval park in 1988 after serving as a museum ship in Groton, Connecticut. The Sullivans is part of the captivating story of the Sullivan brothers from Waterloo, Iowa. Few families sacrificed as much as the Sullivan family did, and the ship represents Gold Star Families from across the United States. Croaker, as part of the Silent Service, sank 11 Japanese ships over the course of six war patrols during World War II. Little Rock better represents the Cold War era, as it was converted along with five other ships using the US Navy's first guided-missile program, which was created in 1955.

The iconic Lake Michigan car ferry Badger has been providing reliable service between Ludington, Michigan, and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, since its maiden voyage on March 21, 1953. Originally built as an ice-breaking ferry hauling railroad freight cars, the Badger now transports passengers, automobiles, recreational vehicles, motor coaches, and commercial vehicles including standard-size tractor/trailers and specialized oversized load trailers. The Badger is the last surviving operational example of a large network of railroad ferries crossing Lake Michigan that had once provided a time-saving shortcut for freight shippers, bypassing the long, circuitous route around the bottom of the lake through Chicago's railyards. Today, the Badger performs a different role, saving time, fuel, and mileage for regional tourists and cross-country travelers, and has been designated the continuance route of US Highway 10. Currently under the ownership of Interlake Maritime Services, the historic 410-foot-long ferry begins its seventh decade of service, continuing to bring joy and adventure to new generations of riders as it contributes to the economic vitality of the cities of Ludington and Manitowoc and surrounding regions.

Under the last resolution, a committee of eight citizens, representing each county in the State; was empowered to sell, three millions of acres; next west of the Pennsylvania line, at a price not less than one million of dollars being a third of a dollar per acre. The names of the committee were John Tkeadwell, James Wadswortii, Marvin Wait, William Edmond, Thomas Grosvenor, Aaron Austin, Elijah Hubbard, Sylvester Gilbert. Speculation in wild lands had already become epidemic in New England. Benjamin Goriiam and Oliver Piielps had sold their New York purchase to Robert Livingston, of Philadelphia, who transferred it to a company in Holland, by which the tract was afterwards known as the " Holland Pur- chase." The committee, and the several adventurers, spent the summer of 1795 in negotiations.
