Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, describes the struggle between good and evil and the triumph of Christ and his church. It is sometimes called the Apocalypse from its first work in the Gk. Original; it is the chief of all Apocalyptic books. The New Testament contains Apocalyptic passages (e.g., Mark 13, 2 Thessalonians 2), but Revelation, like Daniel in the Old Testament, is given entirely to this type of writing.W. S. Thompson once stated: "The Revelation, the day John wrote it, was all that it is today. It revealed identically the same principles as it does today. Nothing has been added through historical events and incidents which help us to understand it. Nothing has been lost. If we were compelled to look to profane history for records of persons and events which would help us to understand the Revelation, then profane history would be the basis for our understanding, and not the Revelation. The Scriptures are the greatest and best source for an explanation of the Revelation. There is hardly any symbol, admonition, or principle stated in the Revelation that has not been well presented in all the previous ages. The primary purpose of this publication is to promote studies in the book of Revelation.
Listening to an old, familiar song can bring us right back to memorable moments of our history, whether it was graduation from school, getting a job, raising our children, or serving our country. Music is the soundtrack of our lives. In just a few generations, we have witnessed so many changes in technology, attitudes, and styles in the world around us. We've heard stories of the first flight around the world and even watched the first person walk on the moon. This book is an attempt to capture the essence of the music and the historical icons who have shaped our lives over the years: our very own Musical Memory Lane.
When we think of ourselves as children of God, we tend to imagine ourselves as small children, dependent and trusting. A better analogy would be to think of ourselves as adolescents. Anyone who has raised a child to adulthood can understand the dilemma of wanting our children to become independent, successful members of society, but realizing as they make their way in the world they will make mistakes. They will get hurt. God did not create us as robots programmed for total obedience. He knows that we will make poor choices as we grow. We will face trials and we will, at times, question His love for us. Just as the parent of an adolescent, God wants us to come to Him for advice, consolation and love. He wants us to remember all He has taught us, all He has done for us, and how much He loves us. He wants our love and devotion in spite of the hardships we face or successes we achieve. When I think about those who don't believe they need God in their lives, it brings to mind the lonely widow who sits in her home day after day, hoping for the moment when her child will call or come to see her. Some never will. How sad is that!

Is this just another devotional?Well, it can be... Or it can be so much more.In volume 1 of Fifty Words of Encouragement Just for You, Pastor Ken says, "These words are to be considered by the reader as 'so much more.'"From the inception of this first volume, each of the words presented arewith the conviction that some aspect of each word was tailor-made foryou, the reader.Hence, the phrase "just for you" is so much more than a generalization. Please allow yourself to embrace the notion that our loving, heavenlyFather is pointedly speaking to encourage you or someone close to you.Psalm 107:20 says, "He sent his word to heal us and rescue us from ourdestruction."So, beloved, be encouraged in your heart and carefully ponder the variouslayers of thought and the potential impact of each word in your life.As always, in His love, Pastor Ken Reed
Mr. Currie discusses how it can be difficult to share the reasons he believes in God, which is what motivated him to write this book. The main thesis is that it makes as much sense scientifically and logically to believe in God as to not believe. He accepts that you may disagree with his choice, but hopes you will consider that belief is not necessarily a delusion or something that ruins everything. With some discussion about what we mean by belief and God, he presents the reasons and evidence that support his belief. Some reasons to believe are based on things he doesn't believe. He doesn't believe that nothing produces something, that matter has always existed, or that intelligence, consciousness, emotions and a sense of morality arose from inanimate matter. He believes that there is evidence of design in creation and life that points to God. These things require an autonomous, intelligent, external to our time and space entity, God. He also believes that the arguments against God are not adequate to negate the plausibility of sensible belief. He believes in free will. A person can choose to believe or not. Either choice is based on a person's understanding of the evidence along with faith.
As an academic project, the author extensively researched the day and era of the cataclysmic financial event, the Stock Market Crash of October 29, 1929; its roots and causes he labeled The Gathering Storm; The Day Itself; The Deluge; and its Aftermath. Concurrent with the history unfolding is the capture of the flavor of the early third of the Twentieth Century, especially of New York City where the event transpired, and the lives and loves of a host of characters assembled by Hanrahan to show that the financial tragedy had its share of victims, participants and affected onlookers.
I remember how I used to play as a child. Imagination is a beautiful thing and helps reasoning skills. Too many children today are attached to phones, tablets, computers, and video games. Franklin the Fearless is the name of the pirate from the book and his treasure inspires a hunt in two little boys' world that will spark their imaginations and help them to learn what is truly important in their young lives.
I was a successful businessman who was always looking for a new adventure to invest in to make my legacy greater. I should have known my next adventure was going beyond anything previously encountered. Despite my disturbing dream, I was not aware of what was to ensue. At the onset, this adventure appeared to be quite lucrative. However, as the adventure progresses, in its unfoldment, it led me to some other unsettling paradigms. I found myself in other time zones and even on other planets.Initially, the pattern of these events seemed obscure. After a few shocking revelations, I realized that there was a purpose to the pattern. The purpose was that of the Ancient Future.
Be Set FreeFor there's a love, a Father's loveFor there's a hope for all mankindFor there's a grace, a Gift of graceFor there's a Friend, He's yours and mineSo reach out and take His handSo lift up your eyes to seeSo lay down all of your sinsAt His cross and be set free"Canuel's call as a writer is on full display in this work. He is careful to credit several companions with contributing special impetus and inspiration for composing this year-long trek down the eponymous "Soul Road." His skill as a spiritual wordsmith is apparent in every entry, and readers will sense through these rhythmic ruminations the writer's struggles and triumphs as each new day dawns. His book could easily enhearten and encourage others to begin their own journey, with this volume as a daily guide."-The US Review of Books
With climate change alone now actually threatening life as we know it on this wonderful but so badly abused planet, and with multiple additional crises adding to the rapidly increasing chaos it is essential that we come to understand what is really happening, why, and what to do about it. This book is an attempt to aid in that understanding. Dr. Dresden leaves no stone unturned as he navigates through the exciting world of the development and practice of an obstetrician and gynecologist. From start to finish, his story is wrought with startling revelations and shocking exposes. His journey uncovers the needs, hopes, anticipations and expectations of men who choose to become physicians and, later on, obstetricians and gynecologists. He deals, without evasion, with the compromises that must be made in a physician's personal life in order to first learn and then practice his chosen profession. He explores, in stark detail, the life experiences that motivate men to strive to serve women's medical needs. He uncovers the self-serving and abusive nature of medical training and the resultant waste, inefficiency and danger. He confronts the flaws and dangers in the medical delivery system that threaten our expectation of quality medical care. He exposes the rot, self-interest and hypocrisy that pervade the political power structure of hospitals and medical societies. Lastly, he uncovers the power that drug companies can exert to control the pricing and delivery of pharmaceuticals and concomitantly keep physicians in line. The task is monumental and the author has met the challenge.

Living Loved: Recognizing and Responding to God lets the reader into the private and intimate areas of the author's heart and mind. Many writers, pastors, or spiritual leaders encourage others to let God into their lives by telling Bible stories, giving snippets of generalized accounts about their own or others' experiences, and by sharing philosophical viewpoints. Although not a "how-to" book, Living Loved details one person's coming to live in close, personal friendship with God. Author Laurice Shafer writes for the person who has wondered about someone else's spiritual life, hoping to find encouragement for their own experience of God. She tells of God's efforts to bring her into friendship with Him, describing it as it was...defects of character are acknowledged, God's specific interventions described heart to heart communication between a woman and her God detailed, and healing and growth in human relationships explored. The hope that comes with experiencing God and His power to restore resounds in this book.
DEATH OF THE NEGRO volume 1"The ancestors of the Negro in America brought their songs with them into slavery"[Negro Music in New York - a chronological survey". Federal Writers Project, 1936-38.]During the period of the antebellum south, "Sorrow-songs" or "Escapist songs" were placed in a similar category to the unpardonable songs because they were freedom songs that applied the same minor traditional tones from Africa as the songs already hated by the master. Later, at the beginning of the 20th Century, Spirituals and Sorrow songs were confused as coming out of the same whishes by collectors and religious apologists. Please remember that many to the communities forcibly migrated from Africa were familiar with Hymns because of their immigration from Egypt thousands of years before. What we hear today is, all of the song were performed in what are referred to as "the blues". As stated by Gellert, this music was brought from Africa with the, . This music was adapted to the current circumstances and has continued until the present. The intellectual nature of these Escapists compositions was never promoted. Thus, because of how the actual songs were sung, the intent of the lyrics was not understood. Only Gellert understood the use of the word Escapist as a metaphor of "Sorrow Songs" urging the populous to take the Underground Railroad to escape to freedom. Freedom represented the name avoided. The idea in giving this lecture as a narration/dialogue play short story is to create a setting in which the scholar learners may visualize the conditions people lived. The point is to use a lyric poet to speak about the feeling the oppressed poor felt during the time these songs were composed and delivered. The accompanying lyric post is an African American blues singer. This lyric poet comes from particular reference points because his lyrics are universal to all poor people of the world.
Who is Betty?Betty Marie Stone is an enthusiastic overweight young singer with the desire to one day - see her name in lights. Although she was always complimented as a child because her voice was strong and adult like in church, No one ever said anything to her regarding her looks, smarts, or personality. For some reason, they only focused on her voice. The elder women would say, "Chile you got a gift from God just like your mother," or they would say, "If you don't do anything else, you ought to sing." Raised by a strong, Southern Baptist Grandmother in the middleof one of the largest Northern Cities was a struggle all in itself. The city lights called to her in a way much different than her counterparts because they had never experienced the darkness of the south. Betty remembered seeing miles and miles of darkness when she was a child. Although they moved to Michigan when she was twelve, she still remembered the dark roads and fields. For some reason, she always felt that the lights made her feel safe and looked after. She thought as long as there were lights, she would never feel the sadness of darkness, nor would she feel alone. Those long dark southern roads seem to escalate the long suffering she endured being alone and forced to care for her mother when she needed care and attention herself. After years had passed and the city started to quiet down a bit, Betty really started to focus on her future. She was sure that singing would make her happy, but unsure if her desired path was even possible. The pains she endured while trying to pursue her dream as a NON-Gospel singer begins almost immediately. Southern gospel was the ONLY music permitted in Grandma's house. Grandma seemed to only care about her church and her relationship with her Bible. After the death of her Mother; Betty thought she'd never sing again. Somehow, after those feelings died a bit, the fire and desire to perform still burned brightly in her soul. Now that she is in her early twenties, she reflects on her feelings as a child, and it still saddens her to admit that she really did feel alone even in the lights. Betty now feels that God's love is enough to help her through any rough patch. After all the ups and downs she endured, Betty finally found someone worth singing for, herself. NOW nothing can stop her, not even fear or loneliness. Now it's time to get the game face on. Betty, It's Showtime.
The Bible is considered the most profound collection of documents in all of history, and its messages and stories are still referenced today in the secular world. But it's long, complicated, hard to understand, and is not organized in chronological order. After author Dr. Peter Bylsma published The Short Bible, it became clear that a shorter version was needed that used simple language. This shorter Simplified version was written for those who are at least 10 years old and those with limited time. It summarizes all 66 books of the Old and New Testament in 24 short, easy-to-read chapters and captures the Bible's epic stories, characters, and main ideas. Structured like a modern book, it also includes a pronunciation guide as well as historical and geographical facts to help clarify the context of the events. The Simplified Short Bible is appropriate for those who are already familiar with the Bible but want a fresh look at its messages. Busy people who want to understand the stories and messages of the most read book of all time will also find it to be a thought-provoking read.
